Ponte di Veja
Located in the Ponte Veja area at the eastern edge of the municipality at 602 m a.s.l., Ponte di Veja is a spectacular arch-shaped geological formation set in the fairytale setting of a winding valley veiled by a lush forest brushed by icy, gushing waterfalls.
The majestic geological formation is the result of the slow erosion of a large karst cavity, whose limestone vault collapsed in the period between 120,000 years ago and the Würm glaciation, dating back to 80,000 years ago.
Reachable via trail E5, the mighty arch overlooks evocative karst cavities where finds dating back to the Middle and Lower Paleolithic have been discovered.
Forte Tesoro
Located at Via Croce dello Schioppo, 14, this grand military complex takes its name from Monte Tesoro, a lush wooded hill at the foot of which lie the hamlets of Corrubio to the west and Giare to the east, while to the south there are a joinery workshop and a marble-processing company.
Designed in the second half of the 19th century, this monumental defensive system was built at the beginning of the 20th century to defend the borders of the Kingdom of Italy from those of the Austro-Hungarian Empire.
Harmoniously set on the green ridges of Lessinia north of Verona, this imposing fortress cleverly adapts to the descending topography of the slope, from whose dominant position you can take in the splendid landscape of Valpantena.
If you are wondering what to do in Sant’Anna di Alfaedo, Forte Tesoro is one of the most extraordinary historic and architectural landmarks in the Veronese area, an unmissable destination for both hikers and history enthusiasts.
