Where is Correzzola?
The municipality of Correzzola borders to the northeast with Codevigo, to the northwest with Pontelongo, to the south with Cona, to the east with Chioggia, to the west with Candiana and Agna.
The Benedictine court
Located on Viale Melzi, the majestic Benedictine court stands near the right bank of the Bacchiglione River, whose placid course crosses the fertile countryside of Correzzola, marked by lush cornfields and lush vineyards.
The presence of the Benedictines in the eastern Bassa Padovana is documented from the 12th century. From the 12th to the 14th century, the monks worked to reclaim these lands through reclamation works, while expanding their acquisitions until they approached the borders of the Dogado of Venice.
Dating back to the 16th century, the monumental architectural complex consists of large porticoed barns, bright and well-ventilated, marked by wide round arches. The imposing rustic buildings were a fundamental part of the charming bucolic-agrarian microcosm where the Benedictine monks worked. The granaries, stables, and warehouses were in fact necessary for the cultivation, breeding, and processing activities of the court’s products.
The Feast of the Holy Trinity
According to the liturgical calendar, the Most Holy Trinity is commemorated on June 4. In the municipality of Correzzola, the celebration also takes place on the days before and after this date.
The 2023 edition of the Feast of the Holy Trinity took place from Saturday 27 May to Sunday 4 June at the parish church of San Leonardo in Via Giuseppe Garibaldi, 60.
To the solemnity of the Holy Mass, the festival adds the dynamic and carefree atmosphere of a fair with dance evenings with liscio orchestras and concerts by talented tribute bands to relive timeless successes of Italian and international rock.
A recommended event for food lovers, the festival features large and comfortable tent structures where you can enjoy tasty seafood and fish specialties, from appetizing spaghetti allo scoglio to exquisite fried eel, from bisatei (small eels) to mixed fried fish accompanied by slices of grilled polenta, grilled vegetables, and cold mugs of beer.

La Marciliana
One of the most thrilling cultural events in Correzzola, the Marciliana reenacts a fundamental chapter in the history of the Republic of Venice: the War of Chioggia, a fierce conflict from 1378 to 1381 that pitted Venice and Genoa, the two most powerful maritime republics of the Mediterranean, against each other for control of trade routes in the Levant.
In 2023, the celebration took place from Friday 28 to Sunday 30 July in the historic center of the pleasant rural town.
To celebrate the triumph of the Republic of Venice, which had suffered heavy losses during the war and risked being overwhelmed by the Genoese, the heart of Correzzola comes alive with cheerful parades with shining armor and flamboyant 14th-century costumes. The program also includes crossbow demonstrations, craft workshops with carpenters and blacksmiths, fencing and archery lessons, performances by jugglers, fire-eaters, and falconers, shows by musicians and drummers, as well as taverns and inns where you can taste lip-smacking specialties.
If you are wondering what to do in Correzzola and want to take a journey back in time and immerse yourself in the magical atmosphere of a festive and picturesque medieval town, participating in the Marciliana might be just the thing for you!
