Bike ride in Villafranca di Verona
The starting point of the itinerary is the parking lot in front of the municipal auditorium on Via Rizzini, 7. Leave the Scaliger Castle on your left and proceed south along Via Rizzini to the intersection with Via Perugia, then turn right. After 130 meters, at the roundabout take the third exit. Follow Via Luigi Fantoni for 30 meters, then take the path on your right that enters the Tione park, a delightful urban green lung shaded by acacias, elderberries, willows, plane trees, poplars, holm oaks, and other lush tall trees.
At the intersection with Viale Olimpia, turn left and proceed to the roundabout. Take the first exit and follow the bike path that winds along Via Arnaldo Porta for 1.7 km to the intersection with Via Dossi Prabiano. Cross the road and continue west, entering the serene rural landscape of Villafranca, marked by flourishing vineyards, blooming peach orchards, and vast expanses of corn that surround rustic buildings and elegant farmhouses.
Follow the path for 1.4 km through thick hedges of black locusts, plane trees, brambles, and walnut trees. At the fork (45.35540220555035, 10.792229490408783) keep right and follow the route for 600 meters that winds through a kiwi plantation, vast meadows, and sunny cornfields. At the intersection, turn right and proceed for 900 meters along the dirt path framed by a dense hedge of maples, plane trees, black locusts, and ash trees.
At the intersection, turn left and follow Via Pozza for 450 meters to the roundabout. Take the second exit and proceed for 500 meters, then turn right. After 450 meters, at the roundabout take the second exit (Via Pigno) and cross the pleasant Veronese countryside, passing by the Golf Club Villafranca Le Vigne in the shade of a long row of Italian cypress poplars. After passing the Golf Club, continue for 600 meters to the intersection (45°22’22.1″N 10°49’49.7″E).
Turn right and follow Via dei Colli for 2 km, then turn right onto Via Milano. At the roundabout, take the second exit onto Via Pozza. At the next roundabout, take the second exit and follow Via Gaetano Bellotti for 250 meters. Turn right and follow Corso Vittorio Emanuele II until you reach the square in front of the entrance to the Scaliger Castle, then turn right onto Via Luigi Zago. Follow Via Luigi Zago for about 120 meters to return to the parking lot of the municipal auditorium.
The ancient fair of Saints Peter and Paul
The 2023 edition of the ancient fair of Saints Peter and Paul took place from Friday 24 to Wednesday 29 June in the urban center of Villafranca Veronese.
