Where is Veronella?
The municipality of Veronella borders to the northeast with Zimella, to the northwest with Arcole, to the southeast with Minerbe, to the southwest with Bonavigo, to the east with Zimella, Cologna Veneta and Pressana, to the west with Belfiore and Albaredo d’Adige.
The Corte Grande by Andrea Palladio
The heart of the architectural complex consists of the ruins of a medieval castle (crowned by elegant swallowtail battlements) adjacent to an 18th-century palace. Framed by a perimeter wall of exposed brick, the property includes several rural service buildings, including two L-shaped barchesse designed by Andrea Palladio, punctuated by twenty-three round arches.
Palladio’s project, unfortunately unfinished, is one of the most fascinating and significant historical and cultural landmarks of Veronella.
The Verza Moretta Festival
One of the most characteristic events in the municipality, the Verza Moretta festival takes place every year between November and December in the town center. This gastronomic event highlights the prized vegetable whose cultivation has been widespread in Veronella since the 19th century.
Started on November 17, the 2023 edition of the Verza festival will conclude on Sunday, December 3, at the parish church of San Giovanni Battista.
The prized variety of Brassica Oleracea is distinguished externally by large, crinkled, fleshy leaves of a dark green color that fades to an intense purple hue in the center. Characterized by a pleasant sweet-and-sour aroma, the heart of the cabbage shows shades ranging from pale yellow to white.
A recommended occasion for food lovers, the fair features large, comfortable tent structures where you can savor enticing dishes based on Verza Moretta paired with local wine excellences.
If you are wondering what to do in Veronella, the Verza Moretta festival takes place with musical and dance evenings, photographic exhibitions, displays of vintage cars and tractors, and inviting local specialties that promote the exquisite vegetable symbol of this charming rural town in the Lower Veronese area.

Church of San Giovanni Battista
Located at Piazza Guglielmo Marconi, 14, the church of San Giovanni Battista is distinguished by a salient façade punctuated in the center by four Ionic pilasters resting on two high bases.
The lateral wings are connected to the central body by two arched wings embellished with volutes.
Between the two pairs of pilasters are two niches containing, on the left, the white statue of San Sebastiano, recognizable by the dark arrows piercing him, and on the right, the statue of San Rocco, depicted showing the wound on his right leg with a dog at his feet.
The wooden portal is topped by a curved, denticulated tympanum crowned by three statues. In the center is a female sculpture, standing, wrapped in ample drapery. On the left, a seated male figure lets his left leg hang relaxed. Of the statue on the right, only the base remains.
Above the door stands an elegant noble coat of arms surrounded by plant motifs. Completing the vertical development of the front are the architrave, frieze, and triangular pediment surmounted by three statues.
If you are wondering what to do in Veronella, the wide and bright nave of the church of San Giovanni Battista houses precious altars in polychrome marble and enchanting Renaissance altarpieces.
