The Church of San Lorenzo
Located at Via Roma, 58, the church of San Lorenzo is a charming 18th-century church set in the urban heart of Nogarole Rocca.
Facing northwest, the double-pitched facade of the place of worship is vertically divided into three parts by two pairs of Doric pilasters supported by high plinths.
In the center of the facade is a door surmounted by a lunette. Above the entrance stands a niche containing a white statue of Saint Lawrence, recognizable by the gridiron, used for the martyrdom of the saint martyred in 258. Incorporated into the north side of the sacred building, the soaring bell tower bears a Roman numeral clock below the belfry. In the belfry four single-lancet windows open, adorned with parapets. The structure is crowned by an onion dome resting on an octagonal drum.
If you are wondering what to do in Nogarole Rocca, the vast and bright single-nave hall of the church of San Lorenzo houses priceless sculptures and paintings created from the 16th to the 18th century.
