Where is Limena?
The municipality of Limena borders to the north Curtarolo, to the northwest with Piazzola sul Brenta, to the south with Padua, to the east with Vigodarzere, to the west with Villafranca.
Punta Speron Park
To reach Punta Speron Park you can leave your car in Via Bocche at Piazzetta Cozzo Pietro. Dotted with poplars, locust trees, weeping willows, cherry trees, and elderberries, the natural park offers suggestive panoramic views of the retention dam, an imposing hydraulic engineering work that regulates the flow of the Brenta.
If you are wondering what to do in Limena and are looking for a serene location immersed in greenery, lapped by the icy waters of the river originating from the lakes of Caldonazzo and Levico (Trentino-Alto Adige), Punta Speron Park is an uncontaminated destination that certainly deserves a visit.
The Barchesse of Villa Fini
Located at Via Roma, 30, the 18th-century building consists of two L-shaped structures.
Facing a vast, well-kept garden, the east wing of the architectural complex is punctuated by thirteen round arches interspersed with Tuscan pilasters. Of notable aesthetic value are the masks placed at the keystones, above which rectangular windows open.
If you are wondering what to do in Limena, the barchesse of Villa Fini and the large wooded park they overlook are the ideal setting for hosting popular celebrations, ceremonies, and musical events such as the Limena Festival.
Limena Festival
The 2023 edition of Limena Festival is scheduled from Thursday 13 to Wednesday 19 July.
As usual, the celebration takes place in the extraordinary architectural setting of the barchesse of Villa Fini, where stages will be set up for performances by numerous rock bands and catering areas where you can savor delicious local specialties that enhance the genuine products of the region: from exquisite fried fish, hamburgers and sandwiches rich in cured meats and grilled vegetables, to succulent chops, ribs and sausages sizzling on the grill, served with french fries and slices of grilled polenta. To soothe the summer heat, rivers of beer, spritz and top-quality wines will not be missing.
To stay always updated on the upcoming events of the music festival and to find out which bands will rock this year, we invite you to consult the Facebook page Limena Festival.
The Parish of Saints Felix and Fortunatus
One of the most significant spiritual and cultural landmarks of the area, the church of SS. Felix and Fortunatus is located at Viale della Rimembranza, 35, near Baia delle Sorse, a pleasant natural oasis that arose along the sinuous tree-lined banks of the Brenta which delimit the western extremity of the municipality.
The red brick place of worship is distinguished by a sumptuous double-pitched façade horizontally divided into two registers. The lower one is punctuated by three slightly splayed openings terminated by round arches embellished with a decorative motif alternating bricks with white stone blocks (perhaps marble).
The wooden portal is flanked by two twisted columns supporting the architrave, crowned at the ends by two spires, and the triangular tympanum, decorated with an ornamental motif reminiscent of a shell and topped by a statue, perhaps depicting the Virgin Mary.
In the upper register, separated from the lower one by a motif of hanging arches, three mullioned windows open, interspersed with four pairs of columns. The lateral lunettes are decorated with an ochre and red geometric motif while the central lunette, larger in size, bears a painted rose window whose shape resembles that of a flower.
An element of considerable interest is also the bell tower soaring beside the church. At the belfry, four pointed mullioned windows open. Completing the vertical development of the structure is a terrace supported by corbels and topped by Guelph merlons.
