The castle of Tregnago
Located in Via Castelli (45.51578921716555, 11.168616126938106), the ancient castle stands on Monte Precastiolo (587 m), a grassy hill dotted with cedars, cypresses, firs, maritime pines, acacias and many other tall trees.
What remains of the medieval fortified complex, built between the 11th and 12th centuries on the ruins of a Roman-era structure, are the ruins of the pentagonal-based tower and the clock tower, with a square base. The latter, crowned with Guelph battlements, features a mullioned window on each side of the bell chamber. Covered in a thick mantle of ivy, the clock tower is embellished with a 14th-century fresco depicting the Madonna and Child and a kneeling figure.
How to reach the castle of Tregnago
Starting from Piazza Mercato, head south on Via San Martino for about 100 meters, then turn left into Vicolo Castello. Follow Vicolo Castello for 250 meters, then take the winding path on your left that leads to the clock tower.
