Where is Selvazzano Dentro?
The municipality of Selvazzano Dentro borders to the north with Rubano, to the southeast with Abano Terme, to the southwest with Teolo, to the east with Padua, to the west with Saccolongo.
The Sagra di Caselle
According to the liturgical calendar, the day dedicated to Santa Maria Ausiliatrice is May 24, and the celebration in her honor also takes place in the days before and after this date. The 2023 edition took place from Friday, May 19 to Wednesday, May 28.
As every year, the traditional popular celebration takes place at the church of Santa Maria Ausiliatrice at Via Pelosa, 63.
The festival combines the solemnity of the holy mass in the Romanesque church with the carefree and jovial atmosphere of a bygone fair, where you can taste local specialties that will make your mouth water: ribs, chops, grilled sausages with fried potatoes and slices of polenta on the griddle, as well as dishes of bigoli and gnocchi with tomato sauce and duck ragù, to name just a few of the dishes on the rich menu.
The program also includes five-a-side football matches, electrifying concerts where you can let loose to the irresistible rhythms of DJ music, and dance evenings with famous orchestras.
If you are wondering what to do in Selvazzano Dentro and want to experience the culture and folklore of a charming little town on the border with the historic center of Padua, among musical performances and delicious, exquisite gastronomic specialties, the Sagra di Caselle might be the event for you!

The Right Bank of the Bacchiglione
To reach this pleasant itinerary, you can leave your car in Piazzale San Michele at Via Roma, 74, in front of the parish church.
Head north along Via Roma for 170 meters. Just before the Ponte della Libertà, take the path on your right. The route leads into the serene rural landscape of Selvazzano, marked by vast wheat fields furrowed by the winding bends of the Bacchiglione.
Shaded by willows, walnut trees, poplars, and tree of heaven, this sinuous cycle path offers stunning wide views of the silent rural panorama of the municipality, from which you can see the bell towers of ancient country churches surrounded by dark, towering cypresses, old rustic buildings, and centuries-old manor houses.
Alternatively, just before the bridge, you can turn left onto the dirt road that winds westward along the grassy bank of the river.
If you are wondering what to do in Selvazzano Dentro and are looking for an oasis of peace where you can walk or cycle, taking the quiet path along the right bank of the Bacchiglione is certainly a recommended activity.
The Park of Villa M. Cesarotti
One of the most significant destinations in the municipality (not forgetting the spectacular Villa Emo Capodilista), this splendid tree-lined garden is crossed by white paths that wind through the lush arboreal vegetation of magnolias, maritime pines, cedars, lindens, palms, and hackberries, to mention just a few of the thriving plants that dot this ancient green lung.
Harmoniously integrated into the urban context of Selvazzano, bordered to the north by the Bacchiglione embankment, the park of Villa Melchiorre Cesarotti blends perfectly with the barchessa of the villa, a majestic rustic building with an airy portico punctuated by wide round arches, and with the manor house, a 17th-century stately home crowned by an elegant turret that stands at the center of the facade.
The park of Villa Melchiorre Cesarotti is the ideal setting for cultural initiatives involving both the local population and visitors from all over the region.
