Bike Ride in Ficarolo and Gaiba
The starting point of the itinerary is Corso Giacomo Matteotti. Leave behind the entrance of the Church of Saint Anthony Martyr and cross Corso Giacomo Matteotti heading southwest for about 200 meters, then turn right into Piazza Giuseppe Garibaldi. After 130 meters, keep right to reach the top of the embankment, then turn left and proceed for 6.2 km along the winding road that follows the wide bends of the Po.
From the privileged position of the embankment, you can gaze over the vast floodplain of the Po, marked by the regular succession of lush sunny poplar groves and cloaked in dense riparian vegetation of white willows, field elms, acacias, birches, and thick reed beds where the heron, marsh harrier, gull, and kingfisher find their ideal ecosystem.
Just before the Club Nautico S. Anna (Gaiba landing stage), descend the embankment and follow Via Fiaschi and Via Roma for 750 meters, turn left where the Teatro-Sala Civica is located, then right onto Corso San Giovanni XXIII. At the intersection with Via Provinciale, cross the pedestrian crossing and continue north for 2.6 km along Via Nuova and Via Convento, entering the pleasant Rovigo countryside landscape dotted with oaks, farmhouses, and rustic buildings surrounded by wheat fields.
At the intersection (44.96588692023849, 11.469797453152209), turn left and follow Via Trento and Via Terraglio for about two and a half kilometers, then keep right onto the bike path that runs alongside the regional road 6 Eridania. Cross the pedestrian crossing, turn left, and continue along the bike path that emerges onto Via Benedetto Craxi (44.956160490643974, 11.438586737400948). Keep left on Via Benedetto Craxi. Shortly after, keep left again onto the bike path that leads to the parking lot of the sports hall.
To return to the starting point, leave the sports hall behind, exit the parking lot, and proceed along Via Mucchiatti Alessandro towards the towering Leaning Bell Tower of the Church of Saint Anthony Martyr.
