The San Valentino fair
The 2024 edition of the San Valentino fair took place from Thursday 8 to Sunday 18 February 2024 in Piazza XXVI Aprile.
During the feast of the Patron Saint, the historic center comes alive with performances by the city band of Bussolengo, concerts of bells from the church of San Valentino, and equestrian shows by the Fondazione Nazionale Giubbe Verdi.
The solemnity of the holy mass in honor of the Patron Saint blends with the carefree, jovial, and engaging atmosphere of a traditional festival, with rides, cabaret shows, and art exhibitions featuring fascinating sculptures inspired by the animal world.
An ideal occasion for food lovers, the fair offers spacious dining areas where you can savor tempting food and wine specialties, from macaroni with horse ragù and tomato sauce to sizzling grilled sausages, not to mention the classic and exquisite risotto al tastasal.
The latter is a mixture of salted, peppered pork meats flavored with cloves and cinnamon. The name of the product comes from the habit of tasting it (in dialect tastar) to evaluate the correct level of salting.

Bike ride in Bussolengo
The starting point of the itinerary is the parking area in Via Cesare Betteloni (45.473744906125, 10.84515087815189). Proceed towards the nearby Church of Santa Maria Maggiore passing through Via Borghetto. Leave the facade of the place of worship to your right and proceed north along Piazza Nuova in the shade of a flourishing avenue of linden trees, then turn left into Via Roma.
Follow Via Roma for 650 meters, then turn right into the municipal road Pol. After crossing the bridge, take the cycle path on your left.
The asphalt cycle path winds along the deep canal of the hydroelectric power plant in the shade of acacias, poplars, willows, ailanthus, ash trees, cypresses, elms, and many other lush tall trees.
After 4.3 km, take Via dei Capitelli. Follow Via dei Capitelli to the roundabout, take the third exit and proceed for 2 km along Via Due Porte, Via Brennero, Via Rovereto, and Via G. Marconi, then turn left into Via Morsella.
Proceed towards Bussolengo along Via Morsella, Via della Carica, and continue on Via Pastrengo for 3 km to the roundabout. Take the third exit and continue along Via Roma for 1 km, turn right into Piazza Nuova, then right again into Via Borghetto to return to the starting point.
Parco Natura Viva
Located in the locality of Quercia, Parco Natura Viva is a modern Zoological Park founded at the end of the 1960s. With an extension of 42 hectares, the vast natural oasis today hosts several protected animal species.
