The church of San Bartolomeo Apostolo
Located at Corso Arnaldo Fraccaroli, 16, the neoclassical church of San Bartolomeo Apostolo is distinguished by a monumental tetrastyle pronaos of Ionic order, above which stand the three-band architrave, the frieze, and the triangular pediment enclosed by a projecting molded frame.
Crossing the grand colonnade, accessible via a white staircase with five steps, one finds oneself in front of the facade of the 19th-century church. Four pilasters frame the massive wooden portal, surmounted by an architrave supported by corbels. On the sides of the central door open two niches containing two statues.
Above the entrance portal stands a plaque with the inscription D.O.M. ET D.BARTHOLOMÆO. AP. PATRONO ANNO MDCCCLV F.
Illuminated by large semicircular windows, the vast single nave of the church is rhythmically marked by giant semi-columns of Ionic order that flank the side altars, adorned with precious polychrome marble altars and refined mural paintings.
Splendidly frescoed, the dome of the presbytery is supported by eight Ionic pillars. The apse is embellished with a pipe organ and a Renaissance altarpiece depicting the Madonna and Child Jesus.
Certainly noteworthy is the Romanesque bell tower in exposed brick. In the belfry open four elegant mullioned windows with pointed arches. Crowning the vertical development of the structure is the soaring conical spire.
