Lake Mis
The starting point of the itinerary is the parking area at the Natural Park of Mis (46.16511347975926, 12.059447269782064). Continue along the bridge over the Falcina stream, then take the path on your right just before the tunnel on provincial road 2.
The first part of the hike unfolds between the steep slopes of Monte Sperone and the extraordinary panorama of Valle Felcina. Protected by wooden railings, the winding route enters the dense woodland of firs, beeches, birches, hornbeams, elms and many other lush tall trees.
After climbing a staircase made of wood and packed earth, the trail crosses the bed of the clear Falcina stream dotted with impressive boulders, then continues east, plunging into the luxuriant forest that drapes the dizzying slopes of the Dolomite mountains until it reaches the Val Falcina picnic area.
If you’re wondering what to do in Sospirolo, this route is recommended for hiking enthusiasts who want to discover and admire one of the most fascinating lakeside spots in Veneto, a brilliant turquoise jewel set in the Dolomiti Bellunesi National Park.
The Cadini del Brenton
The starting point of the trail is the Parcheggio della Soffia (46.18730500760441, 12.04313379029168). Cross the bridge over the icy watercourse overlooked by colossal rocky slopes covered by a bright mantle of trees.
On your right is the (paid) entrance to the path leading to the Cadini del Brenton. The trail enters the primordial, timeless atmosphere of a thriving forest dotted with maples, alders, hazels and ash trees, whose thick canopies shelter hikers from the summer sun.
A must-see destination for photography lovers, the Cadini are fluvial potholes, that is, cavities formed by the erosive action of the gushing crystal-clear stream, whose swirling motion has slowly shaped and smoothed deep natural basins that can be admired today.
The Cascata della Soffia
The route leading to the waterfall begins at Bar la Soffia, where a detailed information panel is located. After crossing some charming little wooden bridges, the sound of a thundering, rushing waterfall grows ever louder, its waters, pouring from steep rocky walls, having shaped mysterious caves and karst sinkholes with transparent bottoms.
