The parish of Santa Margherita
Located in Via Palazzina, 1, the church of Santa Margherita stands in the historic heart of the pleasant rural village in the Padova area. The imposing centuries-old place of worship is distinguished by a façade with a vertical tripartite structure by two pairs of fluted Corinthian pilasters resting on high bases.
The west side of the church overlooks a well-kept garden dotted with cypresses.
Embellished by panels decorated with high-relief figures of Saint Basil and Santa Margherita, the massive wooden portal is surmounted by a lunette of polychrome glass above which stands a triangular tympanum.
In the center of the front, above the door, stands an elaborate rose window of polychrome glass. In the lateral sections, two semicircular niches open, housing two statues.
Crowning the vertical development of the structure are the architrave, the frieze bearing the inscription – S. MARGHERITA V.M. – S. BASILIO MAGNO – and the dentilled triangular pediment.
White and bright, the single nave of the church is embellished with a splendid pipe organ and precious marble altars set in the lateral niches enclosed by large round arches.
If you are wondering what to do in Campodoro, the church of Santa Margherita is one of the most significant spiritual, cultural and architectural landmarks of the municipality.
