Villa Bembo
Accessible from Vicolo Bembo, 1, Villa Bembo represents one of the most significant architectural and cultural landmarks of the town.
The building is harmoniously set in a pleasant garden dotted with lush southern ashes, maples, palms, holm oaks, poplars and a charming specimen of crepe myrtle, a tree of Asian origin whose trunk branches into a fan of smooth and twisted branches crowned in spring with a bright pink floral mantle.
Facing an elegant fountain from which emerges the sculpture of a horse’s head, the west side of the palace is lightened at the base by a portico supported by columns and pillars connected by balustrades. On the piano nobile there are three arched windows adorned with parapets.
The east side features two towering Venetian chimneys in the center. If you are wondering what to do in San Giorgio in Bosco, a visit to this splendid seventeenth-century palace is certainly recommended!
The Bosco del Brenta
To reach the Brenta park, you can leave your car at the cemetery in Via Montagnola, 8, in the hamlet of Fontaniva. Leave the cemetery entrance behind and proceed south along Via Montagnola for about 240 meters, then turn right and follow Via Coltura until you reach the Bosco del Brenta.
Surrounded by the boundless rural landscape of San Giorgio marked by vast cornfields bordered by lush hedges of willows, acacias and field maples, the extraordinary oasis is dotted with poplars, elms, robinias, willows, birches, alders and ashes covered in dense tangles of climbing plants that overlook pebble beaches, scorched by the sun in summer, lapped by the clear and winding course of the Brenta, born from the icy springs of Caldonazzo and Levico in Trentino-Alto Adige.
