Note e sapori
The 2023 edition of the popular event took place from Friday 28 to Sunday 30 July on Via Roma, near the church of Santa Maria Assunta.
On the occasion of the joyful event, the historic heart of the charming rural town is dotted with works of art by painters, sculptors, and skilled craftsmen. In this context, the graceful miniatures stand out, illustrating with extraordinary realism scenes of peasant life through meticulous reproductions of tools used in agriculture and livestock farming in the time of our grandparents and great-grandparents: wooden ox-drawn carts, barns and pens with farm animals, haylofts, ancient wine presses, as well as scale models of bicycles, vintage motorcycles, and picturesque vintage ice cream carts, just to mention some of the scale crafts that testify to the skill of local artisans.
An opportunity for those looking for indulgent and inviting dishes, the event features spacious dining areas where you will find chops, sizzling sausages on the grill, succulent ribs, as well as appetizing fried calamari, cuttlefish, and shrimp served with slices of grilled polenta, crispy French fries, and cold mugs of beer, ideal for quenching your thirst and relieving the summer heat. There will also be delicious plates of bigoli with ragù and salads dressed with mozzarella and accompanied by slices of sopressa.
In addition to local specialties, such as producers of honey, hive products, jams, and preserves, the festival includes stands with typical Sicilian delicacies (the undisputed star is the exquisite Sicilian cannolo).
If you are wondering what to do in Arre and want to spend the beautiful season in an ancient rural village of the Bassa Padovana with live music, dance performances, and mouth-watering food and wine specialties, participating in Note e sapori might be just right for you!

Palazzo Papafava
Located on Via Roma, Palazzo Papafava represents one of the most significant historical monuments of the municipality. Built by order of the eponymous Paduan house, a branch of the illustrious Carraresi family, the majestic rectangular-based palace is articulated over four levels, rising within a courtyard delimited by imposing rustic porticoed buildings and a red brick wall in which an elegant wrought iron gate opens.
Shaded by majestic linden trees, Atlas cedars, and laurel plants, the architectural complex dating back to the 16th and 17th centuries is a splendid jewel of Renaissance architecture. This enchanting place serves as a setting for engaging cultural, folkloristic, and musical events such as the Carpe Diem Festival (Facebook page: CARPE DIEM Festival 2.0).
Parrocchia di Santa Maria Assunta
Located at Piazza D. A. Arzenton, 1, the Parish of Santa Maria Assunta is distinguished by a double-pitched facade, punctuated by four pilasters that separate the central section of the front from the lower lateral wings. A motif of pointed hanging arches follows the slopes of the roof and the lateral wings.
The imposing wooden portal is framed by a white parament embellished with pinnacles and a lunette depicting the Madonna and angels in high relief. Above the lunette, a statue stands on top of the central aedicule.
Above the door, bordered by elegant twisted columns, there are two niches containing statues. These niches are decorated with the same decorative elements similar to those adorning the central portal.
The large rose window has a central quatrefoil around which are arranged twelve small columns connected by trilobed arches. Above the rose window stands an opening, also quatrefoiled.
Five spires accentuate the verticality of the structure: three on the top of the roof, two at the ends of the lateral wings.
Overlooked by a spectacular ceiling with ogival cross vaults, the wide and bright nave is embellished with polychrome marble altars and splendid paintings dating back to the 19th and 20th centuries. It is not excluded, however, that the painting of the Assumption of Mary may date back to the 17th century. Also noteworthy are a valuable wooden sculpture of the Madonna and Child and the altar located in the presbytery, decorated with putti painted on a brilliant gold background.
If you are wondering what to do in Arre, the church of Santa Maria Assunta is a treasure of Gothic architecture rich in paintings and sculptures of inestimable value.
