Ru de Rialt waterfall
The starting point of the walk is the parking area in Corso Venezia, by the hamlet of Masarè (46.398727611616664, 12.013951954519921). We leave the lake on our left and head northeast for about 150 meters, then turn right and follow Via dei Pini for 220 meters. At this point, continue along Via Giovanni Pascoli, passing a tennis court. After passing the Alleghe hunters’ section, we follow the signs and take the zigzagging dirt trail that quickly leads to the sparkling waterfall.
With an elevation gain of two hundred meters, the trail that leads to the Ru Col Aut waterfall takes one hour round trip. If you’re wondering what to do in Alleghe, this pleasant outing is ideal for anyone who wants a quiet walk in search of one of the municipality’s most picturesque spots.
The hamlet of Masarè is also the starting point for engaging panoramic routes that unfold along the shores of the clear body of water stretching between the municipalities of Alleghe and Rocca Pietore, formed in the second half of the 18th century after a landslide blocked the course of the Cordevole.
Rifugio Attilio Tissi
From Rifugio Capanna Trieste to Rifugio Vazzoler
The starting point of the itinerary is Rifugio Capanna Trieste, located at an altitude of 1,135 meters in the splendid setting of Val Corpassa (Taibon Agordino), overlooked by the towering mass of Torre Trieste.
The route winds along trail 555 in the direction of the Civetta group. After crossing a small bridge over an icy stream, you tackle the nine hairpin bends, the first at 1,231 meters above sea level, climbing the side of Monte Civetta. The scenic trail offers breathtaking views of Val Corpassa and spectacular waterfalls that brush against steep heights covered in conifers.
We follow the signs for Rifugio Vazzoler, a charming alpine hut surrounded by the majestic backdrop of the Dolomites (for more information about this fascinating mountain location immersed in greenery and silence, you can visit the website rifugiovazzoler.com).
From Rifugio Vazzoler to Rifugio Attilio Tissi
At this point, take trail 560, proceeding at the foot of Torre Venezia. The dirt path, steep in places, winds through pristine fir woods and bright grassy expanses crossed by crystal-clear streams, dotted in spring and summer with buttercups and daisies.
The sign painted on a rock indicates the direction to Rifugio Tissi, a fifteen-minute walk away. Harmoniously set on the summit of Col di Rean at 2,250 m a.s.l., Rifugio Attilio Tissi stands in a panoramic position from which you can admire the vertiginous northwest face of Monte Civetta, one of the most photogenic destinations of the hike. From the point where the towering cross rises, the view takes in Lago di Alleghe, bounded to the west by Monte Piz. For more information about the mountain hut, you can visit rifugiotissi.com.
If you’re wondering what to do in Alleghe, the effort of the hike, which takes about four hours, is rewarded with extraordinary views of the heart of the Dolomites.
