Where is Villa Galvagna Giol located?
Located at Via Calstorta, 137, 31043 Fontanelle (TV), this majestic noble residence is enveloped by the enchanting timeless atmosphere of a lush park dotted with centuries-old trees. The romantic neo-Gothic facade of the sumptuous residence overlooks a clear pond, from whose fresh waters emerges a charming swan island.
This fascinating architectural jewel stands a short distance from the historic center of Oderzo, an ancient city that arose on the vestiges of the Veneti peoples who inhabited these fertile lands crossed by the Lia and Monticano rivers thousands of years ago.
Villa Galvagna Giol: between architecture and landscape
The sumptuous century-old palace we are fortunate to admire today is the result of Baron Emilio Galvagna’s desire to exploit the potential of a small, marginal, and little-known rural plot and transform it into one of the most majestic noble residences in the Region, as well as a suitable place to welcome and entertain guests of high lineage from all over Europe.
The vast and flourishing park and the large, bright rooms of the palace have indeed welcomed eminent personalities such as Natalija Obrenović, Queen of Serbia, and her future daughter-in-law Draga Mašin, as well as eminent scholars like Theodor Mommsen, the famous German historian, philologist, and archaeologist, and Richard Lionel Guidoboni Visconti, the alleged son of Honoré de Balzac.
The vast, radiant, and well-ventilated space of the ground-floor hall can accommodate up to one hundred and twenty guests and can be set up to celebrate civil wedding ceremonies and organize meetings and gala receptions in a magical and exclusive environment.
The park of Villa Galvagna Giol
A true open-air work of art, the fabulous 19th-century park is a synthesis between the creative flair of Francesco Bagnara, a skilled decorator and landscape architect, and the flourishing floral and arboreal heritage that fascinates with its vibrant colors at any time of year.
An expression of Bagnara’s scenic genius and taste for theatricality (whose talent had led him to decorate the interiors of the Teatro La Fenice), the spectacular park extends over a full ten hectares and, centuries after its conception, continues to amaze and delight anyone who ventures into it to discover its wonders.
Wrapped in the soft grassy mantle of the English lawn, three splendid lakes with lively islets alternate with sinuous watercourses crossed by small bridges.
Like a romantic natural curtain observable from white paths, imposing and proud trees gently brush the water mirrors with their green branches.
The Barchessa hall
Restored to its authentic splendor through careful renovation and restoration work, the barchessa of Villa Galvagna Giol is the ideal location for hosting and experiencing meaningful and memorable moments.
Spread over two levels, the spacious rooms of the ancient rural building harmoniously blend with the serene outdoor scenery, where the shady canopies of tall horse chestnuts create an idyllic and relaxing atmosphere.
Originally a rustic service building, the large barchessa makes its halls available for organizing private or corporate dinners in a festive climate that reconciles art, history, nature, and top-quality food and wine delights. The barchessa can accommodate up to one hundred and eighty people.
Should you wish to plan personalized events, the highly qualified staff will meet your needs with maximum professionalism, in order to ensure that your experience is not only pleasant but unforgettable.
If you are looking for an enchanted place where reality marries the dream, Villa Galvagna Giol will surely be right for you.
