Bike Ride in Pincara
The starting point of the itinerary is the church of Pincara at Via G. Matteotti, 317. Leave the facade of the place of worship behind you and turn right onto Via Giacomo Matteotti. Proceed north for 170 meters, then turn left onto Via Bosco. The first part of the route winds for 900 meters among ancient farmhouses draped in ivy and elegant farmsteads framed by tree-lined gardens.
Unless there are no-entry signs, at the intersection with Via Bruno Zanella keep right and proceed for 250 meters along the grassy banks of the Canalbianco, dotted with buttercups and covered by a dense mantle of riparian vegetation.
At the intersection keep left and continue for 5.2 km along Via G. Matteotti and Via L. A. Ghirardini, venturing into the fertile rural landscape of the Polesine, marked by vast fields of corn, wheat, and cherry trees bordered by thick hedges of acacias, paper mulberries, figs, walnuts, hackberries, white willows, and many other lush tall plants growing along the banks of the winding watercourse.
After passing the Ristorante Billy at Via L. A. Ghirardini, 4780, turn right and follow Via Giovanni Monti, Via Bagnacavallo for 4 km, crossing the hamlets of Le Cornere and Caporumiatti.
The route winds through wheat fields and characteristic rustic farmhouses shaded by dense walnut groves, leading to an imposing rural brick residence flanked by large farm buildings. The property is enclosed by a perimeter wall covered in ivy and topped with moss-veiled tiles, beside which towers a large tree (perhaps an elm).
Leave the ancient architectural complex to your left, and continue along Via Bagnacavallo and Via Roncala for 700 meters, then cross the bridge over the canal and keep right onto Via Roncala. After about 700 meters keep right, pass the charming church of Roncala, and proceed for 2.3 km following the canal that runs along provincial road 71. At the intersection turn right onto Via Varghetto and follow provincial road 16 for about 650 meters, then turn left and continue on Via Varghetto for 300 meters.
At the roundabout take the second exit and follow Via Giacomo Matteotti for 150 meters until you return to the Church of San Giovanni Battista.
The Church of San Giovanni Battista
Located at Via G. Matteotti, 317, the place of worship is distinguished by a white double-pitched facade facing a charming churchyard adorned with lush plants. The front is rhythmically articulated by four Doric pilasters framing round arches, slightly projecting from the wall surface.
Surmounted by a projecting triangular pediment supported by two corbels, the wooden portal is flanked by two niches with statues. The vertical development of the structure is concluded by the triangular pediment, crowned by three spires and decorated at the center with a bas-relief depicting the Madonna and Child.
A recommended destination for those wondering what to do in Pincara, the bright single-nave interior of the church is adorned with four side chapels, fine marble altars, and a splendid pipe organ.
