Where is Orsago?
The municipality of Orsago in the province of Treviso borders to the north with Cordignano, to the south with Godega di Sant’Urbano and Gaiarine, to the east with Cordignano and Gaiarine, to the west with Cordignano and Godega di Sant’Urbano.
The Orsago Springs
Born in correspondence with the ancient geological formation of the Piave river cone, the territory of the municipality of Orsago is particularly fertile and lush thanks to the rich pre-alpine hydrographic system that crosses it extensively through clear streams and high plain underground watercourses that, coming into contact with impermeable sedimentary layers, emerge to the surface giving life to splendid springs and marshy springs called ‘palù’.
The vast and branched water system of mountain origin favors, with its clear and cold waters, the growth of a florid arboreal and floral biodiversity of spectacular variety and beauty, from the majestic forest sites, oak groves and spontaneous tree hedges that grow on the banks of lively streams whose sinuous course they follow, to the soft grassy banks and marsh vegetation that characterize the swampy areas of incredible landscape value.
In order to preserve the integrity of the delicate territorial ecosystem and promote its panoramic splendor, the municipality has implemented initiatives to recover suggestive rural paths that wind along the Gravon stream, as well as a series of historical-naturalistic itineraries that starting from the town center lead to Via Bionzere, then to Via Nazaro Sauro thanks to a cycle-pedestrian underpass, and then, after passing the locality Bavaroi, to the oasis of the crystalline springs, whose beauty can be admired from the privileged position of a high wooden observation tower.
For those wondering what to do in Orsago and are looking for pleasant naturalistic locations ideal for quiet walks, the Orsago Springs will give you exciting panoramic views.
Marcia andar par Rivai
Every summer during the month of June, the Pro Loco of Orsago organizes an exciting nature walk that starting from the town square is divided into two suggestive itineraries that extend for 7 and 12 km respectively.
The trails, perfectly suitable both for sportsmen and hiking enthusiasts and for families with children, allow visitors to get in touch with the nature of the municipality of Orsago by venturing into fabulous green wooded sites, fresh streams and enchanting unspoiled springs that offer memorable landscape glimpses and exciting panoramic scenarios.
Both routes finally lead to the Parco dello scoutismo where visitors will receive surprises and gifts for their participation. If you can’t wait to spend a pleasant summer day walking along enchanting rural trails surrounded by lush arboreal and floral vegetation and admiring the clear waters of the spectacular pre-Alpine spring area.
Church of San Benedetto Abbate
Where is the Church of San Benedetto Abbate?
Located in Piazza Caduti per la Libertà, 3, the parish church of Orsago is a spectacular example of neoclassical architecture.
The white mass of the place of worship stands out for the refined facade divided into three parts by four mighty pilasters resting on high bases that frame the wooden door surmounted by a broken pediment. In the center of the facade, semicircular niches have been created surmounted by arched cornices.
Flanked by a soaring stone bell tower, the church internally features splendid pictorial decorations on the side walls of the nave, the sophisticated altar in colored marbles as well as the refined side altars of notable sculptural value.
In honor of the Patron Saint, every July 11 the feast of San Benedetto Abate is held, a celebration that includes the traditional liturgical ceremony, followed by festivities focused on excellent food and wine, an ideal opportunity to spend moments of joviality and carefreeness in company.
