The occasion combines the solemnity of religious ceremonies in the church of San Giorgio and the suggestive procession with the cheerful and lively atmosphere of the festival in Piazza Madre Teresa di Calcutta, on which occasion comfortable and spacious tent structures are set up where the aroma of exquisite fish fries spreads among the long tables and well-aligned wooden benches.
Recommended appointment for gourmets, the menu includes cod with slices of steaming polenta, mixed grills with fried potatoes, bigoli with duck ragù, and homemade desserts like the traditional brasadelo, a soft sugared donut prepared with almonds and the Recioto di Gambellara, a DOGC quality wine produced on the border with the Verona area.
The rich program of the event includes dance evenings with ballroom orchestras, fireworks shows, fun colorful rides for children, and the classic charity lottery.

Parco San Marco
One of the most enchanting natural areas of the municipality, the park arises in correspondence with the charming little church of San Marco in Via Cava, from which you can enjoy a 360° view of the vast panorama of sunny hills crossed by orderly rows of vineyards that follow the sinuous slopes.
Situated among the fertile volcanic slopes dotted with olive trees with pale gnarled trunks, the geological treasure of the columnar basalts is recognizable by the presence of prismatic formations whose rigid geometries contrast suggestively with the rounded profile of the green hills in which the ancient pillars are embedded.
Erupted from the San Marco volcano tens of millions of years ago, the incandescent magma solidified upon contact with the atmosphere, giving rise to the dark pattern of hexagons that resembles a large petrified beehive covered in shrubs and mantled with tufts of invasive vegetation.
The Church of San Giorgio
Located at Via S. Giorgio, 10, the church of Sorio is one of the most significant cultural and spiritual landmarks of the municipality. Accessible through a massive wooden door surmounted by an elegant curved pediment, the white mass of the sixteenth-century place of worship stands out for its neoclassical facade with projecting wings, rhythmically centered by two pairs of Ionic pilasters. Crowning the vertical development of the facade is a dentilled pediment (lacking the central part of the entablature) surmounted by three statues.
A further element of value is the bell tower, culminating with a conical spire, in which four mullioned windows open.
If you are wondering what to do in Gambellara and wish to learn about the formidable historical and architectural heritage of the area, the church of San Giorgio and the treasure of marble altars and paintings preserved inside certainly deserve a visit!
