Where is the Oasis of the Codibugnolo?
The Oasis of the Codibugnolo is located in the Salettuol area in Maserada sul Piave.
The starting point is a few steps from the monument in honor of the fallen of the Great War, near which there is a parking area along the bank of the Piave River.

The Papadopoli gravel banks
The itinerary develops near the Papadopoli gravel banks, a river island that emerged between the municipalities of Maserada sul Piave, Spresiano and Cimadolmo in the second half of the 19th century due to a bifurcation of the course of the river sacred to the homeland.
The scarcity of shrubs and trees combined with the arid nature of the vegetation of the place recalls the vast and evocative expanses of the steppe landscape, in which, however, it is possible to admire, starting in spring, splendid varieties of flowers and plants such as:
- pepolino, a species of thyme native to North Africa, with lanceolate and very aromatic leaves and white and pink flowers.
- vedovella celeste, recognizable by its globular violet inflorescence.
- camedrio montano, a shrubby plant with lanceolate leaves and white, lipped flowers.
The Oasis of the Codibugnolo
The trail extends for about five km near the floodplain area of the Piave River within a lush and delicate ecosystem in which different habitats can be identified: from riparian and hygrophilous formations that include reed beds, sedge beds, as well as specimens of black alders and willows, to arid extensions rich in lichens and sparse patches of grass plants.

Along the flat path there are several specimens of hazel and black poplar. After crossing the wooden bridge, you reach a pleasant grassy area where you can admire specimens of manna ash, lime tree, black hornbeam, black poplar, riparian willow, Ligustrum vulgare or privet, a bushy shrub with white flowers and dark berries, Cornus mas or cornelian cherry, recognizable by its golden petals, and climbing honeysuckle, a shrub of the Caprifoliaceae family with bright white and red flowers.
Avifauna in the Oasis of the Codibugnolo
Are you passionate about birdwatching? The vast protected area hosts an extraordinary variety of birds that find their ideal habitat in the dense and lush vegetation of the naturalistic oasis. Armed with binoculars and a lot of patience, you can admire fascinating specimens, among which it is worth mentioning the golden oriole, with bright yellow plumage in the male, the great tit, with greenish back and white cheeks, as well as the skylark and the stonechat, with brown head and orange chest.
