Parish of San Nicola Vescovo in the Municipality of Monfumo
Located at via Chiesa Monfumo, 7, 31010 Monfumo (TV), the parish church of San Nicola bears a stone stele placed at the top of the entrance portal attesting to the date of its consecration, which took place in 1760, and the dedication to San Nicola, who lived in Asia Minor between the 3rd and 4th centuries, whose story gave rise to the figure of Santa Claus.
The exterior of the church features elegant neoclassical lines, recognizable by the four Doric pillars supporting the entablature and the triangular tympanum, while the interior is characterized by a wide and bright central nave, ending with a semicircular apse with the main altar at the center, while the side altars are placed laterally.
The sacred building, located in a dominant position on top of the hill where the Maltraversian castle originally stood, offers a breathtaking view of the lush pedemontane landscape and houses precious works of art inside, such as the splendid altarpiece depicting the saint from which the church takes its name, as well as the sculptures of two angels created by master Pasino Canova, grandfather of Antonio Canova.

Monfumo Mines
The lignite mines were an important element for the economy of Monfumo, especially during the 20th century.
Resuming the projects of the first activities carried out in the second half of the 19th century, the mines were reopened, new tunnels were expanded and innovated, while various inclines extended the mine into the bowels of the earth to a maximum depth of 120 meters.
Although it was closed in the early post-war years, the site still preserves the original entrance intact, giving the entire complex an aura of charm and mystery that attracts hundreds of visitors every year.
Taking the road from Pagnano d’Asolo towards Castelli di Monfumo, the mine is on the right, about half a kilometer after the Ristorante Ragno d’Oro, at via la Valle 20, 31010 Monfumo, a dirt road leading to the parking area. The signage consisting of several white arrows guides the visitor to the start of the path.
