(updated article) What to see in Fregona? Three unmissable destinations among unspoiled nature, art and architecture in the Municipality of Fregona.
Venture into the splendid land of Fregona in the province of Treviso to discover unique and unforgettable locations: the Caglieron caves, the characteristic bell tower of the church of Santa Maria Assunta, the majestic architecture of Villa Trojer.
Visit the Caglieron caves
The Caglieron caves (to which we dedicated an in-depth article thanks to the kind collaboration of the Parco Grotte Caglieron) are a complex of fissures whose origin depends partly on excavation processes and partly on the slow and constant erosive action that the Caglieron stream has exerted over millions of years on the limestone and sandstone rock formations located in the locality of Breda in Fregona.
The evocative natural trails and spectacular panoramic views we are fortunate to admire today are the result of the interaction between the majestic rock mass of ancient geological origin and the rushing, primitive flow of clear, icy waters, a source of life that nourishes the lush, verdant tree and floral vegetation that constitutes the delicate yet invaluable ecosystem of the area.
A path of wooden walkways suspended above the evocative Caglieron waterfalls accompanies the visitor into the heart of the ancient natural gorge, delving into a primordial and unspoiled landscape dotted with gorges and caves rich in stalactites and stalagmites that offer landscape scenes of memorable beauty.
Past the ancient mill and refreshment area, the path continues leading to two picturesque rural houses that house an exhibition space aimed at promoting the traditional stonecutter’s craft.
The itinerary ends at Provincial Road 151, near the Santa Barbara grotto, currently being set up for the creation of a workshop with educational purposes.

The Bell Tower of Fregona
The bell tower of the archpriest church of Santa Maria Assunta is one of the most representative monuments of the municipality of Fregona, as well as a true architectural gem of the cultural and historical heritage of the area.
The majestic and white mass of the imposing bell tower was built between the 19th and 20th centuries in massive stone blocks quarried from local caves.
Adding further value to the neo-Gothic structure crowned by eight elegant spires is the sumptuous sculptural apparatus that includes lion and dragon heads, as well as the evocative internal spiral staircase that, once at the top, allows you to enjoy the wonderful view of the town and the surrounding mountain landscape.
Villa Trojer Lucheschi de Mori
Located at Via Indipendenza, 55, 31010 Fregona (TV), the luxurious noble residence built in the 17th century is in excellent condition more than four centuries after its creation.
The main body of the noble residence, featuring an elegant three-light window in the center and accessible via a double staircase, was built following the canons of Venetian Baroque.
The entire structure appears lightened by the presence of eight wide barrel vaults on the ground floor, themselves surmounted by a further fourteen round arches of smaller dimensions.
The splendid residence hosts prestigious and sought-after events each year aimed at enhancing the region’s food and wine specialties, such as the Primavera del Prosecco and the Torchiato di Fregona exhibition.
