To undertake the via ferrata of the Anguane you can leave your car in Piazza Roma in front of the church of San Pietro, or further south in the nearby parking lot near the town hall in Via Carlo Alberto.
Leave the facade of the parish church to your left and proceed north along Via Regina Margherita until you find, on your right, the Via Ferrata – Anelli delle Anguane, where you will find a board with a detailed map showing the different routes divided by difficulty according to the colors white, green, blue, red and black.
Ideal destination for rock climbing enthusiasts, the via ferrata of the Anguane and the Tibetan bridge give climbers spectacular views of the wooded valley crossed by the Astico river and of the picturesque village of San Pietro which from this perspective looks like a handful of tiny miniature houses surrounded by greenery.
The feast of San Pietro
The day dedicated to the commemoration of Simon Peter, apostle who lived in the 1st century, is June 29, although the celebration in his honor does not always coincide with this date. The 2022 edition of the feast took place from Saturday 6 to Monday 15 August.
Recommended occasion for food lovers, the rich menu of the event includes both succulent meat dishes and grilled polenta, and dishes of Hungarian tradition such as goulash (gulyás in Hungarian), a tasty veal stew with onions, tomatoes, potatoes, peppers and carrots spiced with paprika, cumin, salt and pepper.
The program also includes dance evenings, live music and fun activities for children.

The parish church of San Pietro
Located at Piazza Roma, 18, the parish church dominates the historic locality of San Pietro, enclosed by the winding course of the Astico and by rugged rock walls so coveted by expert climbers.
The white mass of the neoclassical place of worship is characterized by a double-pitched facade vertically tripartite by two pairs of imposing fluted Ionic pilasters, above which stand the architrave, the frieze bearing the inscription: “DEO OPTIMO MAXIMO IN HONOREM S. PETRI AP” and the dentilled triangular pediment crowned by a metal cross.
Surmounted by a curved tympanum supported by brackets, the massive wooden portal is surmounted by the statue of the Patron Saint, whose face coincides with the center of a large glass rose window inscribed in a round arch.
The base of the sculpture rests on the cornice that separates the lower register, decorated with ashlars, from the upper one, embellished with elegant panels.
Inside, the church has a single nave rhythmically spaced by Ionic pilasters with golden reflections framing the two confessionals and as many marble altars set into the side niches with round arches.
Below the apse, decorated with a representation of the celestial vault, is the high altar in polychrome marbles, in the center of which stands a valuable tabernacle surmounted by a hexagonal dome and flanked by praying angels.
Steep next to the place of worship, the bell tower has four mullioned windows in the bell cell and is finished with a refined bulbous spire resting on an octagonal drum.
If you are wondering what to do in Valdastico, the church of San Pietro guards an invaluable heritage of sacred art, one of the most important spiritual and cultural landmarks of the area.
