The municipality of San Pietro Mussolino borders to the north with Altissimo, to the southeast with Chiampo, to the west and southwest with Vestenanova, to the east with Nogarole Vicentino.
The feast of San Pietro
The liturgical calendar commemorates the martyrdom of Simon Peter on June 29, although the popular celebration in honor of the patron saint does not always coincide with this date. The 2022 edition took place from Friday 24 to Sunday 26 June.
Alongside the solemnity of Holy Mass and the Eucharist, the event combines the carefree and cheerful atmosphere of a country fair with large dining areas where you can savor mouth-watering local specialties, from traditional gnocchi with sauce and succulent meat dishes such as grilled sausages, tripe, sizzling bacon, and hearty cold-cut sandwiches to more delicate fish dishes like exquisite trout curls to be enjoyed with top-quality wines and mugs of beer perfect for fighting the summer heat.
There will also be homemade desserts from the area such as the exquisite frittole with erba maresina, a plant with a slightly bitter note and anti-inflammatory properties.
To prepare the fritters, soak some bread in milk, add two tablespoons of sugar, chopped erba maresina, two eggs, two tablespoons of flour, sifted vanilla baking powder. Mix the dough adding two tablespoons of liquor, then make small portions with a spoon and drop them into boiling oil (I used peanut oil).
The program of past events included, in addition to pleasant walks immersed in the lush vegetation of the Chiampo valley, recreational activities for children that included modern colorful inflatable games, workshops to create salt dough crafts and wooden toys from our grandparents’ time.
The party will also be enlivened by dance evenings with traditional dance orchestras, Latin American music and DJ shows. The event will conclude with breathtaking fireworks displays.

Queen Bee Trail
The starting point of the itinerary is the parish church parking lot. Leave the church facade behind you. From Via Ronga turn right into Via Chiesa Nuova, then turn left into Via Folaore. At the intersection with Via Risorgimento, opposite Via Lore, turn left, cross the pedestrian crossing and head into Via Lore.
Cross the bridge from which you can enjoy a suggestive view of a small waterfall of the Chiampo river with banks covered in climbing vegetation. From this perspective you can take in the grand mass of the small Dolomites clad in forests.
Having reached a picturesque stone village, I decide to take the shortest path and follow the orange signs that wind through the silent wooded slopes. At the fork I go downhill on the dirt road that leads to a wayside shrine.
After crossing a pretty little stone bridge, I follow the blue signpost. After crossing Contrà Massanghella, I proceed along the flat path until I reach a large grassy area where a wooden artwork depicting a large bee stands, created by Marco Martalar with timber salvaged after the flood that hit these places in 2018.

The Pieve of San Pietro Mussolino
Located at Via Laita S. Pietro (45.59410858082165, 11.249367599493997), the ancient centuries-old Pieve stands between the picturesque inhabited center and the wooded offshoots of the hills that border the Chiampo valley.
Next to the church stands a small cemetery bounded by a stone wall. One of the most characteristic features of the place of worship is the square-based bell tower, marked by four single-lancet windows in the belfry and topped by a conical spire crowned with a metal cross.
Inside the building, elaborate paintings and the large pipe organ located in the presbytery stand out.
