Where is Roana located?
The municipality of Roana borders to the north with Asiago, to the southeast with Caltrano, to the southwest with Cogollo del Cengio, to the east with Asiago, to the west with Rotzo, Valdastico and Cogollo del Cengio.
The Cheese Festival
The Keese Fest takes place every year, with rare exceptions, in the month of August. The 2022 edition took place on Sunday, August 21.
The long-awaited popular event takes place in Piazza Santa Giustina, in front of the imposing neoclassical bulk of the parish church and the monumental bell tower that rises beside it, made of blocks of white stone and crowned by a soaring octagonal spire.
In addition to the delicious menu of cheeses and cured meats from the Asiago plateau to be savored with glasses of wine and mugs of beer, the event features interesting cultural initiatives aimed at protecting and promoting the ancient Cimbrian language and culture, as well as tours illustrating the delicate cheese-making process that for generations has made it possible to produce top-quality cheese specialties, made from cow’s milk whose exceptional quality is the result of the mild climate and the fertile, bright pastures of the Altopiano dei sette comuni.
If you are wondering what to do in Roana and want to spend the beautiful season in the stunning setting of the sunny plateau extending across the provinces of Trento, Vicenza, Padua and Treviso, participating in the Keese Fest might be just right for you!

Selvart Itinerary
The starting point of the itinerary is the free parking lot in Via Parnoli, near the small lake of Roana.
The well-marked loop trail winds for about 3 km through the spectacular wooded heights that frame the Altopiano dei sette comuni. The trail goes into the dense vegetation of beech, white fir, larch, birch and mountain maple trees, whose lush foliage towers over thirty works by sculptors from all over the world.
Enormous dandelions towering among the ferns, contemplative faces floating, suspended on moss-veiled rocks, others exasperated, with mouths wide open in a scream, the head of a moaning, perhaps suffering bull, wrapped in birches, hands reaching to the sky, others anchored to the trunks and the earth, silent peaks, bright birds perched on logs, cute little bears guarding the woods, knotty tangles of branches assembled to form the sinuous profile of a deer with a proud and regal bearing, swings, huts, creatures that recall spiders with long thin legs. These are just some of the works that dot this mysterious oasis of peace nestled among pleasant mountain ridges.
If you are wondering what to do in Roana and are looking for a fairy-tale atmosphere where creativity and nature blend harmoniously, the Selvart itinerary is a highly recommended route.
If you appreciate the works of Martalar, you might be interested in taking the Queen Bee trail starting from the parish church of San Pietro Mussolino, about 65 km away (an hour and a half by car). At the end of the pleasant walk you can admire a splendid sculpture by the great artist.
The small lake of Roana
The nearest free parking to the small lake is in Via Parnoli. Two other parking lots, one at Baita Laghetto and the other at Via Laghetto, 69, are paid.
A starting point for fun excursions, the enchanting body of water is bordered to the south by a large lawn for relaxing and sunbathing. The area also allows you to rent pedal boats and explore the Acropark, a equipped park with artificial rock climbing walls, zip lines and Tibetan bridges to venture among majestic larches and firs and admire nature from dizzying perspectives.
