The casoni of Piove
The casoni are characteristic rural dwellings that dotted the Piove area centuries ago. The rudimentary farmhouses are made of twigs and straw mixed with mud and crowned by steep double-pitched roofs formed by layers of intertwined marsh vegetation.
Due to the perishable material with which they were built, these structures have almost completely disappeared, except for a few evocative examples restored to their original charm after careful restoration.
The three surviving casoni, Casone Rami, Casone Rosso di Corte and Casone Azzurro are located respectively in Via Ramei, and in Via Fiumicello, 44, in Str. S. Marco, 9, 35020 Arzergrande, immersed in the radiant rural landscape of the Paduan plain.
