Bike ride in Lusia
The starting point of the itinerary is the parking lot in front of the Parish Church of Saints Vito and Modesto in Via Papa Giovanni XXIII. Head northwest on Via Roma towards the embankment. Shortly after passing Torre Morosini, take the road on your right that follows the grassy banks of the Adige, covered with a dense mantle of common reeds.
Proceed for about 6.5 km along the river embankment dotted with towering cypress poplars, white willows, mulberries, elms, alders and many other lush tall trees. Just before the picnic area (45.09725912142303, 11.72998333097053), descend the embankment and head south on Via Municipio, flanking the lush wooded park “Ida Galante”.
At the intersection with Via S. Gregorio and Via Bassa, continue south on Via Casalveghe for 500 meters, cross the bridge over the canal, turn right and follow Via Ceresolo and Via S. Giuliano for about six and a half kilometers, passing through the hamlets of Grompo, Cassan and Valle, lapped by a winding canal. The route enters the peaceful and silent Rovigo plain dotted with elegant farmhouses, ruins of red brick farmhouses covered in climbing vegetation and stately rural residences, among which stands out the white bulk of Villa Grimani, flanked by vast rustic annexes almost buried by a dense mantle of ivy.
Facing the clear canal, the majestic noble complex is framed by fields of wheat and corn, avenues of cypress poplars and sunny vineyards. Once you reach the parish of San Giuliano, on your left, cross the bridge on Via Bornio, then turn left.
At the intersection with the provincial road, cross the road and follow Via Ceresolo for 2.6 km. The route winds along the sinuous watercourse between imposing agricultural buildings and rural cemeteries surrounded by cornfields. Cross the small bridge over the canal, turn right and continue along Via Ceresolo for 450 meters, then at the fork keep right and continue north along Via Santa Lucia, passing through the hamlet of Cavazzana.
At the intersection, turn right and proceed along Via L. Cotta and Via Comacchio for 2.3 km, then turn left onto Via Dante Alighieri. At the intersection near the S.Giovanni Bosco Kindergarten, shaded by linden and birch trees, turn right onto Via Don Bosco towards the parish church.
