The springs of Bressanvido
The starting point of the serene nature itinerary is the parking lot on Via XXV Aprile. Proceed east along a small road that leads to a playground, after which head towards the bridge over a winding stream.
After crossing the stream, turn right and continue until you reach a second bridge, cross it, then turn left and follow the path that follows the meandering stream in the shade of lush hedges of willows, plane trees, walnut and acacia trees.
Follow Via Bettinardi for 1.2 km to the stop sign (45.641935297950205, 11.636505644556799). Keep left and continue on Via Bettinardi for 450 meters. At the intersection with Via Roma, turn left, then turn right onto Via S. Rocco.
Walk along Via S. Rocco for 450 meters, then turn right onto the path that winds through the flourishing vegetation of field maples, elms, and alders that grow lush along the green banks of the clear Castellaro spring.
After visiting the spring, resume walking until you reach Via Roncaglia. Turn right and proceed along Via Roncaglia to the intersection with Via S. Rocco. Turn left and follow Via S. Rocco for 120 meters, then turn right onto Via Trozzi until the intersection with Via Roma. Turn left and walk along Via Roma for 280 meters, leaving the town hall square on your left, then turn right onto Via Vegri. Pass the cemetery on your right and turn left onto the tree-lined lane that winds northeast along the Rio Arcadia. The lane comes out onto Via San Benedetto in front of the Spaccio Latterie Vicentine, where the towering mass of a tall red brick chimney rises.
Turn right and follow the bike path for 280 meters, punctuated by a long row of well-aligned yew trees, then take the dirt road to your right that leads back into the vibrant rural landscape among corn fields and vast grassy expanses.
The path winds through the beautiful area of the Lirosa spring, from whose crystal-clear bottom emerge thick bright tufts of water crowfoot, just surfacing from the water, pushed by the almost imperceptible movement of the cold spring’s currents.
The path connects to the Via Napoleonica, upon reaching it turn right and head south for 400 meters immersed in the boundless rural plain, then turn right and follow Via Vegri for 1 km. At this point (45.64259687126067, 11.637426239982185) turn left and return to the starting point via Via Bettinardi.
The transhumance festival
The transhumance festival celebrates the day when hundreds of cattle, returning from the alpine pastures of the Altipiano dei Sette Comuni where they have grazed, make their entrance into Bressanvido. The 2023 edition is scheduled from September 22 to October 1.
On the occasion of this ancient event, the historic center is dotted with tasting points where visitors from all over the region can savor local dairy specialties. The event includes educational farms, craft workshops, breathtaking acrobatic performances, and guided tours aimed at illustrating the delicate process of producing local cheeses.
If you are wondering what to do in Bressanvido, celebrating the centuries-old tradition of alpine pasturage with excellent cuisine and top-quality wines will be an unforgettable experience.
