The Pieve di San Giorgio Martire
Located at Piazza della Pieve, 22, the Pieve di San Giorgio Martire is harmoniously set in the heart of the charming village of San Giorgio, nestled on the ridge of a sunny hill that extends south of Monte Solane.
Built on the foundations of a Lombard place of worship, the thousand-year-old pieve is internally divided into three naves marked by wide round arches supported by columns and pillars.
The three naves, the central one being twice as wide as the side ones, correspond to as many apses. The central apse has three single-lancet windows with round arches, while the side ones each have a single-lancet window, also crowned by a round arch.
One of the most fascinating elements of the architectural complex is the cloister connected to the east side of the church, next to the bell tower, which frames a lovely garden.

Bike Ride in Sant’Ambrogio di Valpolicella
The starting point of the short itinerary is the parking lot in Piazza Vittorio Emanuele II. Leave behind the municipal seat of Sant’Ambrogio di Valpolicella and head east on Viale Rimembranza. At the intersection with Viale dell’Industria, turn left, then immediately right onto Via Corgnan, passing the majestic cypress trees that shade the monument to blood donors.
Proceed for 1.7 km along Via Corgnan and Via Pigna to the roundabout. Take the third exit and follow Via Giare and Via Lavelli for 900 meters, then keep left and cross Piazza Dante Alighieri toward the parish church of Santa Maria della Misericordia.
Turn left and follow Via XXV Aprile for just over 1 km, then you can stop on a square from whose privileged position you can gaze upon a breathtaking view of the vast Verona plain marked by lush vineyards and framed by gentle slopes dotted with silver olive trees.
Continue north along Via Case Sparse Conca d’Oro for 1.1 km, then take Strada Garibaldi on your right. The winding asphalt road leads to the historic center of the ancient stone village perched on a rocky hill. After visiting the Pieve di San Giorgio Martire, cross Piazza della Pieve and take Via della Torre on your right.
At the intersection, turn left onto Viale Caduti sul Lavoro and continue along Via Panoramica and Via Case Sparse Conca d’Oro, then retrace the road back to the starting point.
