Things to do in San Biagio di Callalta? Visit the World Police Museum
Where is the World Police Museum?
Located at Viale della Resistenza, 14, the World Police Museum is the only police museum in the world to be set up in a railway station.
A suggestive example of railway architecture from 1885, the passenger building of the Treviso – Motta di Livenza line was rebuilt in the 2000s, decades after the devastations of World War II and the terrible flood of 1966.
Abandoned until 2015, the building was included by RFI in the tender to assign unused railway stations to non-profit associations. Michele Mastrosimone, President of the Museum, seized the opportunity to realize the dream of creating an exhibition itinerary that would enhance 25 years of collecting efforts.
Resulting from the collaboration between the Italian branch of the NPDF (National Police Defense Foundation), a US law enforcement association, and Reti Ferroviarie Italiane, the museum welcomes and displays the result of twenty-five years of collecting efforts.
Among the most sought-after relics, you can admire a very curious portable lie detector from the 1970s and one of the SOS call boxes that in the 1960s were available on the streets of major Italian cities to make citizens safer at a time when telephones were not easily accessible.
If you’re wondering what to do in San Biagio di Callalta, the World Police Museum is definitely a recommended destination!
