Where is Lastebasse?
The municipality of Lastebasse borders to the northeast with Pedemonte, to the northwest with Lavarone, to the south with Arsiero, to the southeast with Tonezza del Cimone, to the west and southwest with Folgaria.
Cascata della Civetta
To reach the Cascata della Civetta you can leave your car in Via Giaconi (45.9149819458726, 11.276330380330316) near a small group of houses in front of the bridge over the Astico river on Via Carotte. Keeping left, pass behind the large four-story building of Trattoria Speranza, then take the path that crosses charming terraced slopes, bordered by white dry-stone walls, until you reach the splendid natural site.
The roaring sound of the spectacular waterfall reverberates through the leaves of hornbeams, firs, beeches, and larches that cover the grassy rounded hills, growing increasingly intense as you approach the steep rocky walls from which the course of the Civetta plunges.
The stream branches into a series of clear rivulets that, following the harsh rocky slopes, flow into small pools veiled with moss and then converge into the white and foamy waterfall that plunges into the larger pool with brilliant emerald green reflections.
If you are wondering what to do in Lastebasse, the short and pleasant itinerary leads to a jewel immersed in lush tree vegetation in a primordial and timeless dimension, comparable, for the spectacular views it offers its visitors, to the Montagna Spaccata and the Papalini waterfall, located respectively in Recoaro Terme and Crespadoro.
The church of San Marco Evangelista
Located on Via Roma near the post office, the place of worship overlooks a playground dotted with maple trees. Distinguished by a simple double-pitched façade, the church is accessible via a splayed wooden portal surmounted by a lunette depicting, on a gold background, Jesus Christ wearing a red and blue robe, colors symbolizing divine nature and the heavens.
Above the door is a rose window with an eight-petal lobed shape, flanked by two tall single-lancet windows crowned by a motif of hanging arches.
Overlooked by the imposing mass of the small dolomites that delimit the Val Civetta on the border with the autonomous province of Trento, the church has a single nave with an elaborate coffered ceiling, punctuated by round arches that frame the side altars.
Illuminated by single-lancet windows with bright leaded glass, the semicircular apse is embellished with pictorial works including a representation of Jesus in a pleasant bucolic setting.
Next to the place of worship stands the imposing square-based bell tower, adorned with pilasters connected by blind arches and featuring, in the belfry, elegant mullioned windows.
