The municipality of Cartura borders to the north with Maserà di Padova, to the northeast with Casalserugo, to the northwest with Due Carrare, to the south with Conselve, to the southeast with Terrassa Padovana, to the southwest with San Pietro Viminario, to the east with Bovolenta, to the west with Due Carrare, Pernumia and San Pietro Viminario.
Palazzo Buzzaccarini
Located at Piazza dell’Assunta, 13, the sumptuous noble residence is one of the most representative cultural landmarks of Cartura. Among the most distinctive elements of the manor house are the imposing crenellated tower and the majestic entrance archway in ashlar stone crowned by an elegant triangular pediment, in the center of which stands a noble coat of arms.
The parish church of Santa Maria Assunta
Harmoniously set in a pleasant tree-lined garden, the Renaissance architectural complex faces the enchanting medieval church of Cartura.
Austere and unadorned, the solemn red brick mass of the place of worship features a double-pitched façade rhythmically divided by four pilasters, in the center of which opens a massive wooden portal surmounted by a white triangular tympanum.
Leaning against the front rises the soaring bell tower topped by a conical spire.
In contrast to the severity of the exterior, the vast and bright nave is embellished with formidable polychrome marble altars, fine wooden crucifixes, an elaborate gilded canopy, and paintings of exquisite craftsmanship. Noteworthy in this regard, extending over the church’s pavilion ceiling, is the fresco painted at the end of the 18th century by the Venetian artist Giandomenico Tiepolo, son of Giambattista Tiepolo, depicting the Assumption of Mary.
If you are wondering what to do in Cartura, the parish church of Santa Maria Assunta is a treasure chest of invaluable artworks.

The salt cycle path
The salt cycle path is a pleasant itinerary that for 8 km winds from Cartura to Due Carrare following the placid course of the Vigenzone canal and then joins the Bacchiglione cycle path. The name of the lovely cycling route follows the route that the burci, flat-bottomed river boats, traveled for the transport of goods. If you are curious to see the evocative wrecks of these fascinating boats, we recommend visiting the burci cemetery in Casier, in the province of Treviso.
