Where is Asigliano Veneto?
The municipality of Asigliano Veneto borders to the northeast with Orgiano, to the west, northwest, and southwest with Cologna Veneta, and to the east and southeast with Pojana Maggiore.
The Festival of Santa Giusta
According to the liturgical calendar, the days dedicated to the cult of Santa Giusta are May 13 and 14, but the celebration in her honor in the municipality of Asigliano Veneto does not coincide with this date. In 2022 the festival took place from Friday 26 to Sunday 28 August.
A zealous observer of the Christian faith from a very young age, the saint was born in the 2nd century in Santa Giusta, in the province of Oristano. Firmly opposed to her daughter’s religious beliefs, the mother had Giusta locked in the dungeons of her home and subjected her to torture to induce her to renounce her faith.
According to one version of the story, Giusta and two of her mother’s servants, also Christians, were martyred. Another version holds that Giusta, after her mother died of grief for not being able to convert her, drowned following a storm.
The festivities include large dining areas where you can enjoy hearty dishes of peasant culture, from bigoli with musso, tomato and duck ragù to succulent chops, sausages and grilled ribs to be enjoyed with slices of steaming polenta, as well as sandwiches with top-quality cold cuts.
The highlight of the event will be baccalà alla vicentina, one of the most representative and exquisite recipes of the Vicenza tradition.
To further enliven the event, there will be band performances to relive timeless rock hits. In 2022, the Guns Celebration performed, an adrenaline-pumping tribute band that reproduces the songs of the great Californian hard rock band.
If you’re wondering what to do in Asigliano Veneto and are looking for initiatives to spend the spring season in a pleasant rural village at the southern tip of the Vicenza area, with native wine excellences, mugs of beer, typical Vicenza cuisine and live music, participating in the festival of Santa Giusta will be an opportunity not to be missed!
The Radicchio Festival
This gastronomic event promotes the prized vegetable with its unmistakable bitter-sweet taste, testifying to the richness of the Veneto region’s biodiversity. The 2022 edition took place from Wednesday 7 to Sunday 11 December in the comfortable Palaradicchio structure at Via S. Martino, 13.
The refined menu features the exquisite variety of chicory in different gourmet recipes that enhance its delicate aroma, organoleptic properties and splendid shades, from white to ruby red to intense purple.
Risottos with locally grown radicchio, gnocchi with radicchio, cheese and walnuts, and sausage stuffed with radicchio and polenta are just some of the delicacies you can taste during the festival with a nice mug of red Vicentina beer, a beer specialty also made with radicchio.
A recommended appointment for food lovers: if you’re wondering what to do in Agugliano Veneto and want to satisfy your palate with dishes that enhance the priceless food heritage of the Vicenza area, the radicchio festival might be just for you!

The Church of San Martino Vescovo
Located at Via Roma, 3, the church of San Martino Vescovo is one of the most significant spiritual, cultural and architectural points of reference in the municipality.
The majestic neoclassical place of worship is distinguished by a double-pitched façade vertically tripartite by four pilasters above which stand the architrave, frieze and triangular pediment. Above the massive wooden portal stands a painting depicting the patron saint in the act of offering a piece of his red cloak to a half-naked wanderer suffering from cold.
Leaning against the northwest wall stands the bell tower culminating with an elaborate bulbous metal spire.
