Villa Pojana
Located at Via Castello, 43, Villa Pojana is one of the most significant cultural landmarks of the municipality. Surrounded by a perimeter wall of red bricks, the Palladian residence rises on three levels: the basement, in which thin rectangular openings open, the main floor, and the mezzanine.
Harmoniously set in a well-kept wooded garden, the Renaissance mansion is accessible from the northwest via a staircase, adorned with statues of Poseidon and Zeus, which leads to a Serliana flanked by two windows with architraves supported by corbels.
Completing the vertical development of the façade is a triangular dentilled pediment embellished by three statues symbolizing on the left Painting, in the center Sculpture, on the right Architecture.
Attached to the main body is a square-plan structure connected to a long rustic annex and a porticoed barchessa, arranged in an L-shape.
If you are wondering what to do in Pojana Maggiore, Villa Pojana and the spectacular frescoes that decorate its interior spaces demonstrate how complex and varied the invaluable mosaic of art and architecture of the province of Vicenza is.
