AN INTERACTIVE EXHIBITION WITH WORKSHOPS, SCIENTIFIC EXPERIMENTS AND THE EXCITING KABOOM! SHOW
– an event dedicated to outreach in collaboration with the Italian Science Farm Pleiadi, an experience for adults and children alike.
VICENZA 17 OCTOBER 2023 – Science and outreach arrive at Castello di Thiene: on Saturday 4 and Sunday 5 November, don’t miss the incredible event “the Castle of Discoveries”. An international interactive exhibition, a true Science Center, with scientific experiments, workshops, a mysterious journey to discover the Castle Secrets and the incredible Kaboom! show.
The international exhibition, hosted in the ancient 15th-century residence, will offer visitors – adults and children alike – the chance to experience extraordinary phenomena that are often part of our everyday lives, but whose origins we do not often know.
“The Castle of Discoveries” is a project curated by the Italian science farm Pleiadi, whose mission is to encourage children and adults alike towards content related to scientific, technical and robotic disciplines.
There are numerous specific interactive labs created in the Castle spaces. Some examples? The Zoetrope. By building this special optical instrument, children will be able to view moving images, like a real cartoon, which they can take home as a souvenir of the day. Also not to be missed is the shadows and theatre workshop, which will offer children the opportunity to immerse themselves in a fascinating journey through time, exploring the enchanting world of shadows and medieval theatre; here young participants will have the opportunity to build a shadow theatre with their own hands and stage an astonishing medieval story.
To give the day an almost magical touch, here is the great scientific show Kaboom! A show for all ages entirely based on science entertainment, with fascinating experiments and interesting explanations (Saturday at 3.30 pm, Sunday at 11.30 am and 3.30 pm). The aim of the show is not to thrill the audience with big effects and explosions (hence the name: Kaboom): liquid nitrogen, chemical reactions and much more to discover…
The event the Castle of Discoveries is suitable for adults and children alike. In addition, while the little ones have fun, the grown-ups can take the opportunity to visit Castello di Thiene using the QR codes placed in the various rooms, complete with audio guide.
The initiative “the Castle of Discoveries” is supported by the Municipality of Thiene and by OGD Pedemontana Veneta.

Saturday 4 November: from 2.00 pm to 5.30 pm (last entry 4.30 pm)
Sunday 5 November: from 10.00 am to 5.30 pm (last entry 4.30 pm)
Workshops and shows:
– Zoetrope from 2 pm to 5 pm continuously;
– Castle Secrets: from 10 am to 5 pm continuously;
– Medieval Shadow Theatre: Saturday at 2.00 pm; 3.00 pm; 4.00 pm; Sunday at 10.30 am; 11.30 am; 2.00 pm; 3.00 pm; 4.00 pm (max 25 people per session, while places last)
– Kaboom show: Saturday one afternoon show at 3.30 pm / Sunday 2 shows, one in the morning at 11.30 am and one in the afternoon at 3.30 pm;
