Il Bombardino: What Is It?
Il Bombardino is a cocktail typical of mountainous areas, with 30% alcohol served hot, made from an egg liqueur to which milk and Whisky are added. Each resort and each specific bar has its own personal variation, so it’s not uncommon to find Bombardini where milk has been replaced by cream and Whisky by Brandy, others use coffee or Rhum.
The traditional recipe calls for only 2 parts milk, 1 part egg liqueur, the most used is VOV, and 1 part Whisky. To prepare the Bombardino, simply bring the liqueur to a boil in a small saucepan, then add the other ingredients, stir, and serve. The cocktail should be presented in a special glass and can be decorated with fresh whipped cream and a sprinkle of cocoa or cinnamon.
