Il sentiero Braggion
To undertake the pleasant nature trail, just over 7 km long, it is advisable to wear footwear suitable for slippery terrain.
The starting point of the itinerary is the parking lot near the church in the hamlet of Campotamaso (45.660511017586586, 11.265942375671838). Proceed uphill along Contrada Chiesa Campotamaso and leave the facade of the place of worship on your right, then continue along Contrada Case.
Upon reaching the first hairpin bend, as indicated by the signs for Val del Boia and G. Braggion, the trail begins, entering an unspoiled and silent environment among the thick canopies of beech, ash, acacia, fir, field maple and many other lush plants through which a cold stream winds.
Along the path you will find a small bridge on your left; crossing it, you will reach a dirt clearing with wooden benches and a barbecue area.
Following the signs for G. Braggion, the route passes by a picturesque rustic building enveloped by lush woodland vegetation.
The walk leads to a wooden sign engraved with the words “Sentiero G. Braggion – chi ama la montagna rispetta le sue regole”. Next to a colorful gnome painted on a piece of wood, there is a plaque that talks about the Salbanei, “arcane presences” that populate these woods. Agile and elusive, these lively little spirits follow those who venture into these places without being seen, but their presence is betrayed by the sudden rustling of leaves moving in their wake and the faint footprints they leave on the ground.
Take the stone and dirt staircase that climbs up steep slopes crossed by clear, gushing streams framed by dense foliage. Approaching one of the most evocative places of the excursion, you hear more and more intensely the relaxing and cathartic sound of a waterfall cascading down a rock face veiled in moss.
After crossing the wooden bridge, you can hold onto the steel tie rods to safely tackle the steep slope.
L’antica dimora dei Salbanei
The effort of the climb will be rewarded by the enchanting spot you will find inside a cave, the dwelling of the Salbanei. Too small to accommodate humans, the fairy-tale cave that shelters the woodland elves contains two little doors, a pretty ladder, a table set with four chairs next to a copper cauldron. At the back of the cavern, a dark tunnel leads to a mysterious place.
Il belvedere
Past the crystal-clear rock spring, the winding path for G. Braggion climbs up the side of the mountain until it reaches the summit, from where you will enjoy spectacular views of the valley enclosed by wooded hills, on whose gentle slopes lie distant rural buildings that from this distance look like tiny mosaic tiles disappearing on the horizon.
If you are wondering what to do in Valdagno and want to venture into a dream dimension where time seems to have stopped, if you want to breathe fresh, unpolluted air away from the noise and traffic fumes, surrounded by an atmosphere where art, nature and legend reign in harmony, walking the Braggion Trail is an experience not to be missed!
