Where is Meduna di Livenza?
The municipality of Meduna di Livenza borders to the north with Pasiano di Pordenone, to the south with Motta di Livenza, to the east with Pravisdomini and Annone Veneto, to the west with Gorgo al Monticano.
Ponte della Vittoria
The starting point is Piazza Umberto I, an urban area paved with cobblestones bordered to the east and west by lush rows of plum trees, south of the church of San Giovanni Battista. The square is bordered to the north by picturesque historic hotels and historic cafes.
You are in front of the hotel “Al Paradiso”. Go left and continue for about a hundred meters until you reach the monument in honor of the fallen of the Great War, surrounded and shaded by tall cedars. Proceed south until you reach a staircase that leads to the cycle-pedestrian passage of Ponte della Vittoria.
Across the suggestive blue metal structure you can admire the landing of Meduna, the winding course of the river and the lush vegetation growing along its banks.
Across the suggestive blue metal structure you can admire the landing of Meduna, the winding course of the river and the lush vegetation growing along its banks. Along the bank of the Livenza stretches a pleasant nature trail that, with its relaxing atmosphere, invites visitors to immerse themselves in the beauty of the surrounding nature.
Church of San Giovanni Battista
Located at Via Vittorio Emanuele, 55, 31040 Meduna di Livenza (TV), the place of worship dedicated to San Giovanni Battista (an ascetic and prophet who lived from the end of the 1st century BC to about 30 AD, the year he was martyred) is distinguished by a solemn and austere style.
The exteriors, in exposed brick, are punctuated by an elegant series of pilasters joined by hanging arches, while the facade features a rectangular wooden door above which stands the rose window.
The interiors, with a wooden truss ceiling, feature a single nave ending in a semicircular apse covered by a cross vault, while the beautiful floor is characterized by splendid polychrome marbles.
Palazzo Michiel Loredan
The architectural complex was built in the 16th century at the behest of the noble Venetian family of the Michiel, whose rank is attested by the noble coats of arms on the facade and on the elegant octagonal-based fountain.
The sumptuous two-story palace features on the ground floor a loggia supported by stone columns, flanked by a two-story porticoed barchessa with six arches supported by Istrian stone columns.
The majestic building is said to have originated as an extension of a pre-existing medieval castle, the remains of which can be admired in the south-east area of the palace.
Villa Wiel
Immersed in a splendid verdant garden, the sumptuous building is recognizable by the sinuous line of the facade, characterized by an elegant curved pediment.
The large rectangular windows on the ground floor alternate with the round-arched windows on the first floor, the central one of which is enriched by a fine iron balustrade.
The interiors of the villa are embellished with valuable stuccoes in excellent condition, while the royal garden constitutes the radiant natural setting in which the stables, the barchesse and a charming little church are set.
