Where is Zugliano located?
The municipality of Zugliano borders to the northeast with Lugo di Vicenza, to the northwest with Carrè, to the southeast with Sarcedo, to the southwest with Thiene, to the east with Fara Vicentino, to the west with Carrè, Zanè and Thiene.
Parco Selgea
Nestled among the territories of Zugliano, Fara Vicentina and Lugo di Vicenza, Parco Selgea is an uncontaminated oasis arranged around a clear and cold body of water born from a flood of the Astico River following a flood.
Crossed by shady paths covered in autumn months with dry, golden, crackling leaves, the green area is enveloped by a dense, seemingly impenetrable mosaic of trees, shrubs, and flowers of alders, mulberries, poplars, willows, and acacias in a thick tangle of branches, leaves, and weeds that slowly climb the trunks as if wanting to devour them slowly. You will also find specimens of buddleja and mullein, with their characteristic tubular flowers in shades of purple and yellow.
From the comfortable observation point reachable via a metal staircase (45.73895246613897, 11.534697839908223), you can enjoy a wide-angle view of the lake landscape surrounded by a thick ring of treetops swaying in the wind.
Making the atmosphere even more relaxing is the chorus of chirping, with the regular sound of the nearby bell tower in the background.
If you are wondering what to do in Zugliano and wish to immerse yourself in a peaceful dimension to gather your thoughts in tranquility and observe the cold lake reflect on serene days the shimmering reflections of the sun and the suggestive wooded reliefs that extend from Caltrano to Salcedo, a visit to the Selgea oasis is a highly recommended destination.
Gustando l’autunno
The event Gustando l’autunno takes place every year at the end of November (the 2022 edition was held on November 27) and celebrates the ancient traditions linked to agricultural work and local manufacturing. The streets and squares of the village fill with stalls offering top-quality native fruits and vegetables, industrious artisans who pass on the same techniques of our ancestors in creating fascinating sculptures, elaborate wicker baskets, wooden and wrought iron tools used by our grandparents and great-grandparents in field work, and exhibitions illustrating the ancient art of forging.
In addition to the inevitable parade of vintage tractors, whose presence is announced by their unmistakable smoky, crackling roar, the event features large stands where you can savor food and wine specialties, from exquisite risottos to succulent meat dishes, aspects that characterize the identity of these hilly, sun-drenched lands, whose products are the result of soil fertility and mild climate combined with the importance given to the environment and love for food rooted in the peasant culture and mentality that technology and progress, fortunately, have not yet fully compromised.
If you are wondering what to do in Zugliano and wish to fully experience the autumn season through the aromas of a healthy land and the traditions of a hardworking community immersed in the heart of the Vicenza area, participating in the harvest festival will certainly be right for you!
Villa Giusti Suman
Located at Via Villa, 19, Villa Giusti Suman is one of the most significant landmarks of Zugliano’s architectural heritage.
Accessible via an elegant staircase, the stately residence is harmoniously set in a charming, well-kept garden. The main body culminates in a triangular tympanum embellished with refined floral motifs framing a noble coat of arms placed in a central position.
Crowning the vertical development of the building are seven precious statues placed on top of the structure.
Inside, the vast spaces of the centuries-old residence are seemingly made even larger by suggestive perspective illusions through which spectacular natural scenes can be glimpsed.
