Sorgenti del Sile e Porta dell’acqua
The territory of Casacorba, a small hamlet of Vedelago, is characterized by a delicate ecosystem whose rich biodiversity of trees, flowers, and fauna depends on the presence of the fontanassi, an important resurgence area that is the source of the Sile River.
The icy mountain springs, combined with the underground watercourses of the Piave River, flow until they reach the small hamlet of Casacorba, whose soil, characterized by a surface rich in peat, determines their emergence.
The fontanassi are part of the protected area of the Regional Park of the Sile River, a splendid natural oasis that in this location is crossed by a network of paths and walkways that wind through the lush woodland vegetation lapped by bubbling crystalline springs.
One of the most suggestive itineraries in the area is the path ‘La Porta dell’Acqua‘ in Casacorba di Vedelago, an unspoiled path that develops along a stretch of the nascent branches of the Sile. The educational path includes a Visitor Center, an ecomuseum, a refreshment area, and a botanical garden from which the Girasile cycle-pedestrian itinerary begins.
Museo della Radio
Located at Via Papa Sarto, 32, 31050 Vedelago (TV), the radio museum includes hundreds of vintage radios carefully cataloged thanks to the passion of collector and former repairman Silvano Gazzola.
One of the most ingenious and peculiar relics is a radio that is operated and powered by Prosecco, made by Gazzola himself.
The museum itinerary illustrates the functionality and technical aspects of the various radio equipment starting from the first electric generator conceived by Alessandro Volta at the end of the 19th century and accompanies the visitor through historical events that have indelibly marked the history of our country, such as the period of Mussolini’s dictatorship during which the radio was one of the main tools for transmitting propaganda.
If you are wondering what to do in Vedelago and are curious to embark on a journey to discover the origins and evolution of the ingenious invention patented by Guglielmo Marconi, a visit to the radio museum is certainly recommended.
Villa Emo
Located at Via Stazione, 5, 31050, in the hamlet of Fanzolo (TV), Villa Emo is a splendid example of a Palladian Venetian villa included in 1996 in the list of World Heritage Sites.
Accessible through an elegant classical-style pronaos, the sumptuous residence is flanked by splendid porticoed barchesse (barchesse are typical buildings of Venetian country villas used as warehouses, storage for tools and agricultural equipment, and to house the peasants and laborers who worked on the farm).
The main building stands out for the sober elegance of its facade punctuated by four Doric columns that support the classical tympanum bearing the family crest held by angels.
The interiors of the villa are adorned with spectacular pictorial decorations depicting bucolic landscapes and representations of the arts and virtues.
For art and history enthusiasts who are wondering what to do in Vedelago, Villa Emo is one of the most fascinating stately homes in the province of Treviso.
