Where is Montebelluna?

Villa Zuccareda Binetti in Montebelluna (TV): the Sportsystem Foundation
Located about 20 kilometers from Treviso, Montebelluna is a lively and thriving industrial center known as the “city of the sports shoe” due to the Sportsystem, an industrial area housing hundreds of companies linked to the world of sports footwear. Among the brands based in the area are Lotto, Geox, and Diadora.
Palio of the old market
When and where does the Palio of the old market take place?
The Palio of the old market of Montebelluna takes place every year between the end of August and the beginning of September. This 2022, the 31st edition of the Palio will be held from September 2 to 5 at the Barchessa Manin in Ca’ della Luna.
The historical districts participate in a competition where five athletes push a cart loaded with products from the Montebelluna town hall to Piazza Colonna at the old market, thus covering the arduous path of about 2 km that separates the new market from the old one.
An ideal opportunity to enjoy the warm days that precede the autumn season, the Palio is a precious expression of the centuries-old folklore that distinguishes the lively, colorful, dynamic, exciting cultural identity of the community of this charming town framed by gentle green slopes south of the evocative Montello forest.
Although a relatively recent event, the festival keeps alive the ancient history of the town by retracing the centuries-old route that connects the new and old markets of Montebelluna.
Equal value is given to the culinary specialties of the area, products that attest to the quality of the products and that you can taste in the food and wine stalls.
Villa Manin Park
For outdoor sports enthusiasts wondering what to do in Montebelluna, Villa Manin Park is an ideal spot for peaceful walks a stone’s throw from the center in the Guarda area, about halfway between the Train Station and the Loggia dei Grani (the beating heart of Montebelluna, which with its venues is a meeting place for young and old alike in the area).
Mercato Vecchio
Leaving the center, an unmissable stop is Mercato Vecchio, located at the top of a hill overlooking the city. From the center of Montebelluna it is about two kilometers of walking, but it is certainly worth taking a look both at the impressive bulk of the majestic Cathedral, a spectacular early 20th-century neo-Gothic church, and at the charming church of Santa Maria, perched on a green hill from which you can admire the surrounding valley.
How to reach Mercato Vecchio?
Starting from Piazza Monsignor Furlan, with the cathedral facade behind you, turn into Via XXX Aprile and continue for 500 meters and turn left into Via A. Serena, from where you can appreciate the large Piazza del Municipio framed by venues and centuries-old buildings such as the historic Bar Garibaldi.
Continue on Via A. Serena until you reach Via Rampa Fra’ Enselmino, a narrower paved road flanked by a beautiful hedge and tall, dark cypresses that lies on the slope, accompanying the visitor to a staircase that leads to Via del Mercato Vecchio.
Museum of Natural History and Archaeology
Where is the Museum of Natural History and Archaeology?
The Museum of Natural History and Archaeology of Montebelluna is located at Via Piave, 51.
The eleven exhibition halls of the Museum of Natural History of Montebelluna are set up on the ground floor of Villa Biagi, an ancient 15th-century noble residence.
The museum itinerary unfolds in the sumptuous rooms of the rural residence, illustrating the stages of the evolution of the human race through very rare archaeological finds including tools, weapons, and finely decorated artifacts of millenary origin, as well as discoveries of various tombs that bear witness to the richness of the Celtic and Roman cultural heritage.
For information on admission and opening hours, we recommend visiting the official museum website.
