Where is Jesolo located?
The municipality of Jesolo borders to the north with San Donà di Piave, to the northeast with Eraclea, to the northwest with Musile di Piave, to the south with the Adriatic Sea, to the east with Eraclea, to the west with Musile di Piave, Venezia and Cavallino Treporti.
Bike ride in Jesolo
The recommended cycling route starts from Piazza John Fitzgerald Kennedy, where you will find ample free parking. Follow Via Arturo Toscanini westwards to the junction with Via XXIV Maggio, turn left, then immediately right onto Via Francesco Petrarca until you reach the solemn bulk of the parish church of San Giovanni Battista.
The church is distinguished by an imposing gabled façade in exposed brick, adorned with an elegant motif of suspended arches and two pairs of white columns placed between the lower and upper slopes.
Flanked by four round blind arches rhythmically set by massive pillars, the splayed entrance is surmounted by an archivolt with a lunette decorated with a colorful mosaic. An additional ornamental element is the rose window with a precious radial tracery.
After visiting the place of worship, leave the church front behind and proceed towards Piazza Giacomo Matteotti, where the monument to the Naval Gunners of World War I stands. Cross the square framed by magnolias, head east, cross the pedestrian crossings to reach Piazza Primo Maggio.
Bordered by bars, ice cream parlors, picturesque colorful houses, and bright flowering hedges, the characteristic paved area includes a charming splashing fountain and hosts the enchanting ice nativity scene every year.
Cross the square eastwards to the Zona d’Ombra wine bar, then turn right onto Via Nazario Sauro. Proceed southeast along Via Nazario Sauro and cross Ponte Spano, then go for about 90 meters and turn left onto Via Damiano Chiesa.
Follow Via Damiano Chiesa to the stop sign, cross the pedestrian crossings to your right, and continue northeast for 200 meters along the provincial road Jesolana, then turn right onto Via Cavetta di Marina.
At this point, ride along Via Cavetta di Marina for 6 km, skirting the grassy banks of the placid canal dotted with white flowers and lush tufts of riparian vegetation.
Upon reaching the Cortellazzo bridge, turn right and follow Viale Oriente for 350 meters, then keep left onto Via Dragan Cigan and proceed until you reach the Jesolo beach, from where you can enjoy a wide view of the Piave river mouth and the unspoiled maritime landscape cloaked in saltmarsh vegetation.
Return to the intersection with Viale Oriente, turn left and proceed along Viale Oriente for 3.4 km in the shade of tall maritime pine canopies.
At the Hotel Grifone, turn left and follow Via Galileo Galilei until you reach Lungomare Gina Lollobrigida.
Proceed west along the cycle-pedestrian path, from which extends the boundless landscape of the lido, punctuated by the regular arrangement of colorful kiosks and umbrellas. Continue along the paved road for 9 km until you reach the cliff at the mouth of the Sile, from which soars the towering Jesolo lighthouse marked by horizontal black and white bands.
After visiting the lighthouse beach, head north to Piazzetta del Faro, then proceed along Via Alberto da Giussano to the roundabout, take the first exit onto Via Gorizia and turn right onto Via Navigatori. Proceed for about 60 meters and turn left onto Via dei Mille.
Proceed for 550 meters to the roundabout, take the second exit onto Via Giuseppe Verdi and follow the paved road flanked by shops, bars, and restaurants for 1.5 km to Piazza Aurora. Continue along Via Silvio Trentin until you reach Piazza Mazzini, one of the liveliest and busiest spots in Jesolo, whose distinguishing feature is undoubtedly the Gasoline Road Bar with its picturesque neon sign, a fascinating and original pop art expression featuring three-dimensional caricatures of two giant peanuts decorated with Mexican masks holding two large beers, alongside silhouettes of four soaring palm trees and dazzling rotating neon signs.
Cross the square and proceed along the tree-lined street of Via Andrea Bafile, one of the most dynamic and popular commercial destinations in the town, full of hotels, bars, pizzerias, ice cream parlors, pastry shops, clothing, and souvenir stores. The next stop is Piazzetta Casa Bianca, adorned with a well-kept flower garden enclosed between Via Bafile and Via dei Pioppi.
Continue along Via Bafile until you reach Piazza Guglielmo Marconi, then head north following Via Goffredo Mameli for 180 meters and keep right onto Via Monaco. At the junction, turn left onto Via Levantina and at the roundabout take the first exit onto Via Goffredo Mameli.
Follow the bike path along Via Goffredo Mameli for 1.3 km and turn right onto Via Pineda. Proceed for 100 meters and enter the Parco degli Aviatori on your left. Follow the white path until you exit onto Via Pazienti and continue north via Via Elsa Morante to the roundabout, take the first exit and ride along Via Selghera and Via Alberto Gianquinto.
At the roundabout, take the second exit and ride along Via Carlo Goldoni for 900 meters. At the junction, turn left onto Via Cà Gamba, proceed north onto the provincial road 42, and after crossing the bridge over Canale Cavetta, turn left onto Via Cesare Battisti.
Follow Via Cesare Battisti for 400 meters, then turn right and ride along Via Arturo Toscanini until you return to the parking lot from where you started.
