Discovering Piazza Cantiere
At the end of the cycle path, cross the pedestrian crossing and continue on Via Guardiana for 500 meters. At the intersection with Via del Vaso, turn right and cross the Ponte del Vaso on the Naviglio del Brenta.
After crossing the bridge, turn left onto Via Garibaldi and after 140 meters turn left onto Via Rizzo, then continue for about 80 meters and turn left into the pedestrian area that leads to Piazza Cantiere.
Bathed by the waters of the Brenta, the square with its paving stones and cobblestones offers views of incredible landscape value where the natural element, represented by the placid course of the Brenta, harmonizes with the urban scene overlooking the riviera. In this regard, the profile of a noble dwelling culminating in a dormer window crowned by a triangular pediment and the towering brick mass of the bell tower of the Cathedral of Dolo, of which the south side can be seen, stand out for their historical and architectural value.
From Piazza Cantiere, facing the naviglio, you will find on your right the boatyard of Dolo, that is, the yard where river boats were once repaired, on your left a centuries-old mill whose ancient wooden wheel is still functioning.
The Church of San Rocco
Cross the naviglio passing by the mill and, once you reach Via Giuseppe Mazzini, proceed to the right towards the monumental church of San Rocco.
Once you reach the parish church, take Via Benedetto Cairoli, continue for about 150 meters and take the left side street. Continue for 450 meters along Via Arnio, at the roundabout take the first exit and continue on Via Arnio for 500 meters until you reach, just before a bridge, the dirt cycle path that follows the course of the canal.
Turn right and follow the section of cycle path, partly tree-lined, which for 2.6 km winds along the canal and enters the vast and evocative agricultural landscape of the Dolo countryside.
Return
At the intersection with Via Lorenzo Perosi (45.43554512808973, 12.09016018284107), keep right and continue for 500 meters. At the intersection with Via Meloni, turn left. After crossing the underpass, continue for 240 meters and turn right onto Via Fratelli Bandiera. At the end of the street, cross the pedestrian crossing to your right and proceed left towards the bridge on Riviera Martiri della libertà.
After crossing the bridge, you will find on your right the facade of the charming oratory of Villa Badoer, after which turn right onto Via Brenta Bassa.
Continuing along Via Brenta Bassa, in addition to the lush tree vegetation growing along the riverbanks, you can admire splendid examples of Venetian rural architecture surrounded by majestic woodland areas and tall hedges, sun-drenched cornfields and lush vineyards.
Continue on Via Vego Scocco following the main road along Via Vego Scocco and turn left onto Via Argine Sinistro. Proceed along Via Argine Sinistro for 550 meters and turn right onto Via Monache. After 100 meters you will find on your left the Alberto Polo cycle path that will take you back to the starting point.
