According to the liturgical calendar, the celebration of San Giovanni Battista falls on 24 June. In the municipality of Costa di Rovigo, the festival in honor of the patron saint also takes place in the days before and after this date.
The 2023 edition of the San Giovanni Battista fair took place from Sunday 11 June to Saturday 1 July in Piazza San Giovanni Battista.

Bike Ride in Costa di Rovigo
The starting point of the itinerary is the car park in Via Guglielmo Marconi (45.04978534944491, 11.699352560914967). Once you leave the car park, turn right and continue for 130 meters. At the junction, keep left onto Via Dante Alighieri, then turn right onto Via Galileo Galilei.
After about 70 meters, keep left on the cycle path, then, near a white church adorned with primroses and larkspur, turn right onto Via Martiri della Resistenza. Continue for about 600 meters among pretty rural houses framed by gardens shaded by plums, olive trees, palms, holm oaks, magnolias, jasmine, cedars, figs, limes, cherries and many other flourishing tall trees.
Follow the canal on your right until the junction with Via Scardona, cross the road and continue along Via Martiri della Resistenza for 4.5 km. The route winds through the fertile countryside of Rovigo, in the shade of dense hedges of acacias, walnuts, willows, white poplars, Lombardy poplars and hazelnut trees.
At the stop sign (45.07099169477422, 11.72980572474304), turn right and cross the canal. Turn left and follow Via Giovanni Pozzato for 2 km along the grassy banks of a winding canal lined with common reeds. Then turn right onto Via Santa Caterina.
Head south on Via Santa Caterina and Via Busovecchio for almost 3 km, turn slightly right and take Via Sante Zennaro. At the junction with Via Carlo de Rossi, turn left, then at the intersection with Via Scolo Sinistro Valdentro turn right and follow the artificial waterway for 3.5 km, cutting across the countryside dotted with farmhouses wrapped in endless cornfields.
At the intersection, turn right and continue along Via San Pietro Martire and Via G. Matteotti for 2.8 km among old exposed-brick farmhouses surrounded by greenery, lush orchards, long rows of Lombardy poplars and white rural cemeteries framed by palms and cypresses and surrounded by wheat fields.
At the junction with Via Umberto I, turn right and continue for 400 meters, leaving the neoclassical church of San Giovanni Battista on your right, then keep right onto Via Guglielmo Marconi to return to the starting point.

Located in Via Dante Alighieri, 300, the A l’alboron ethnographic museum preserves and displays documents and artifacts linked to the economic, agricultural and spiritual world of the farming community nestled in the heart of the Rovigo countryside.
