Where is Torri di Quartesolo?
The municipality of Torri di Quartesolo (so called because it is four Roman miles from Vicenza) borders to the north Quinto Vicentino, to the northeast with Gazzo, to the south with Longare, to the east with Gazzo and Grumolo delle Abbadesse, to the west with Vicenza.
The feast of the Rosary
The day dedicated to Mary of the Rosary is October 7 (the same as the Battle of Lepanto) but the feast in her honor also takes place before this date. The 2022 edition took place from September 29 to October 3.
The heartfelt procession in honor of the Virgin takes place in an atmosphere that reconciles the solemnity of ancient liturgical ceremonies with the relaxed and jovial environment of old-time country fairs, featuring live music, craft beers, glasses of wine, and top-quality local cuisine, whose undisputed star will be the exquisite arna, exquisitely prepared in numerous mouth-watering recipes, from juicy and steaming bigoli and duck ragù pie to stuffed duck roll.
If you are wondering what to do in Torri di Quartesolo and want to immerse yourself in the colors and scents of the autumn season in a cheerful and welcoming dimension, attending this event might just be right for you!
The asparagus festival
The hamlet of Marola annually hosts, in the first half of May, the most significant gastronomic event of the charming municipality bordering Vicenza. Favorable climatic conditions combined with the healthiness of fertile soil are the ideal conditions for the growth of the prized and tasty white asparagus, the flagship of Quartesolo’s agricultural heritage, which lends itself to the preparation of delicious dishes that express the delicate balance between creativity, respect for tradition and the raw materials of local farms.
Mezze maniche with Asparagus Cream and Guanciale, asparagus risottos, and rolls of speck, white asparagus and cheese are just some of the tasty dishes you can savor in the large dining areas that are the focal point of the celebration.
There will also be an orchestra for dancing the liscio, the classic charity lottery, and colorful rides for the entertainment of the little ones.
Villa da Porto Slaviero
Located at Via Roma 97, the noble residence is harmoniously set in a lush tree-lined garden adorned with well-kept hedges.
Dating back to the second half of the 16th century, the central part of the facade of the noble palace is marked by three elegant arches surmounted and crowned by a triangular pediment. The spacious rooms of the palace, the porticoes and the barchesse create a charming setting for hosting receptions and dream weddings.
The bridge over the Tesina
Among the most significant examples of civil engineering in the municipality, the bridge over the Tesina River (in Via Roma) was built in the second half of the 16th century following the design of the famous architect Andrea Palladio. Marked by three majestic arches, this fascinating late Renaissance structure allows the eye to embrace the thick blanket of waving algae emerging from the clear watercourse, bordered by grassy banks dotted with willows, overlooking the splendid Villa Da Porto Rigon, a spectacular 16th-century manor in excellent condition.
the church of Saints Gervasius and Protasius
Located at Via Roma, 93, the church is distinguished by a salient facade, almost completely unadorned except for four statues and a cross that complete the vertical development of the place of worship.
Accessible via a massive wooden door preceded by a white porch, the parish church is internally illuminated by a circular opening that stands out in the center of the facade, by two thin single-lancet windows on the sides that give impetus to the structure, and by a series of small windows along the sides of the building.
A further element of architectural value is the refined red brick bell tower bearing, at the bell chamber, four two-light windows in Gothic style, above which rises a conical spire.
