Le Motte di Sotto
What remains of an ancient Bronze Age settlement is a quadrangular embankment, cloaked in a bright meadow surrounded by a thick hedge of poplars, field maples, oaks, plane trees, acacias, birches, willows, alders, encircled by sparkling cornfields.
If you are wondering what to do in San Martino di Lupari, this serene natural oasis immersed in the Luparense countryside is one of the most enchanting and mysterious spots in the municipality.
The church of San Martino
Located at Via Giotto 24, the towering red brick mass of the place of worship features an imposing double-pitched façade. At the center of the front, a large pointed arch delimits the vestibule in which a wooden portal with a curved pediment opens. The central arch is flanked by four smaller pointed arches, two of which are blind, while those at the ends frame two more wooden portals.
Four imposing pilasters divide the upper part of the façade into three sections. In the middle section, a five-light mullioned window is surmounted by a white rose window and flanked by two two-light windows set within round arches.
Distinguished by a Latin cross plan, the interior of the church is divided into three naves and is topped by an elaborate wooden coffered ceiling.
Once inside the place of worship, it is easy to be fascinated by the apse area covered in a golden background on which the figures of Christ, saints and angels stand out.
Flavors of a Time
The popular celebration takes place every year in the locality of Campagnalta. The 2022 edition was held from June 25 to July 23.
Recommended for food lovers, the festival offers a rich menu that includes inviting dishes from the local culinary tradition, such as bigoli with duck ragù, salt cod, fish fry, as well as succulent rib steaks, sausages and ribs with slices of toasted polenta whose aroma spreads through the long orderly rows of tables crowded with festive and hungry diners.
In addition to historical Veneto recipes like bovoeti (small snails that grow in damp soils, particularly tasty when boiled and seasoned with garlic, olive oil, parsley, salt and pepper), the event offers specialties of Mediterranean gastronomy such as paella, an Iberian delicacy based on rice, saffron and seafood.
On the spacious dance floors you can dance to the music of famous orchestras and let loose to the rhythm of great DJs.
