Artigianato Vivo
As every year, the event takes place along the enchanting streets of the historic center to promote the ancient arts and crafts that technological progress risks driving to extinction.
On the occasion of the event, creativity, talent and manual skill are expressed through the languages of sculpture, carving, weaving, music, singing and typical cuisine to reveal the great mosaic that constitutes the cultural identity of Cison di Valmarino, a jewel set in the Treviso pre-Alps.
For those wondering what to do in Cison di Valmarino, Artigianato Vivo will be an unmissable opportunity for those who want to live exciting moments in an atmosphere of celebration, friendship, diversion and culture.
The Via dei Mulini
Where can I park my car or camper to undertake the Via dei Mulini itinerary?
Hikers interested in walking the Via dei Mulini can leave their car in the CastelBrando parking lot, located at Via Pietro Mascagni, 8, 31030 Cison di Valmarino (TV). For campers, there is a camper parking area at Via Pietro Mascagni, 3.
Starting from the CastelBrando parking lot, take Via Pietro Mascagni and continue north until you reach Via Pietro Mascagni. Turn right and cross Piazza Brandolini Girolamo and Via Guglielmo Marconi, along which stands the archpriest church of Santa Maria Assunta.
Once you reach Piazza Roma, turn left onto Via Giuseppe Mazzini, bounded on the right by the low wall that follows the course of the Rujo stream, on the left by the splendid centuries-old buildings of the town hall and the Antiche Cantine Brandolini.
Continue until you see on the right a lovely stone bridge that will accompany you along the winding Via Serenissima, flanked by ancient stone houses.
The paved road leads to a cobblestone path where you will find an information panel with directions for the Via dei Mulini.
After passing a rural stone and wood building, you will soon find the first mill powered by the waters of the Rujo. The path delves into the lush tree and shrub vegetation from which emerge graceful wooden sculptures depicting female figures and legendary creatures.
The path winds between cheerful little bridges and lively waterfalls that gush among the moss-covered rocks. The shady tree canopy that provides shelter from the summer sun gives way to the vast and bright grassy expanse of Prato Mazarol.
The Bosco delle Penne Mozze
The path continues quietly among charming canals, dirt paths from which emerge sturdy roots and ruins wrapped in forest vegetation until it leads to the Bosco delle Penne Mozze, a memorial designed to commemorate the fallen Alpini of the province of Treviso, to whom over 2000 stelae are dedicated.
For those wondering what to do in Cison di Valmarino, the Bosco delle Penne Mozze is one of the most enchanting and significant places in the Veneto region.
Bivacco dei Loff
Where is the Bivacco dei Loff?
Coordinates: 46.00123226239766, 12.14858453680633
Set on the steep slopes of the Crodon del Gevero, the Bivacco dei Loff, from its privileged position at 1140 meters above sea level, offers an exciting panoramic view of Cison di Valmarino.
How to reach the Bivacco dei Loff
One of the most pleasant routes to reach the bivouac is the CAI 991.
Once you reach Ristorante Laris (Passo S. Boldo, 7, 31030 Cison di Valmarino TV), you can park near the restaurant and start the walk following the signs for the CAI 991 trail, or drive along Via di Vittorio Venezia, avoiding about 2 km of uphill paved road.
After leaving your car in the parking lot on your left, proceed west along the white lane that leads to the path that climbs up the mountain relief.
Covered by a lush mantle of forest vegetation, the wooded path leads to the top of the rocky ridge, giving the hiker a surprising and exciting panoramic view that rewards the effort made.
After passing a suggestive stone monument, you will soon reach a fork. Keep left following the signs that will take you quickly to the bivouac.
The welcoming structure is nestled against the rock face of the Crodon del Gevero. The warm and cozy atmosphere of the interior spaces is the soul of the mountain bivouac. Crossing the threshold of the shelter, you will find, on the left wall, a large wood fireplace (rebuilt in 2020), a gas stove and a cupboard with various pots, pans, teapots and coffee makers available for visitors. Next to the door there is a large table and wooden benches.
A ladder leads to a small attic where you can stretch out and lie down. To illuminate the room you can turn on a lamp powered by solar panels.
The archpriest church
Located at Piazza della Chiesa, 5, the place of worship is one of the most significant spiritual, artistic and architectural landmarks of the municipality of Cison di Valmarino.
The majestic neoclassical facade is adorned with the statue of Saint John surrounded by the cardinal virtues, namely Prudence, Temperance, Fortitude and Justice.
Spacious and bright, the single nave of the archpriest church houses a treasure of incredible pictorial and sculptural value, including the grand Assumption of the Virgin that stands out on the wall behind the majestic altar.
The side walls and the dome of the choir are adorned with sacred representations of impressive beauty.
The pipe organ, recently restored, is the work of Gaetano Callido (1727 -1813), one of the best organ builders ever to exist.
