In Veneto lies the Inn Without a Host, a farmhouse with a special self-service room, aiming to introduce zero km products to all travelers.
At the Inn Without a Host…
At the Inn Without a Host is a typical, well-kept rural farmhouse at the top of the Cartizze hill, located along the route from Valdobbiadene Square to Santo Stefano, after the village of San Pietro. We are in Veneto, in the province of Treviso, and the farmhouse sits among the vineyards with a breathtaking view of the surrounding nature. It feels like an enchanted place where time has stood still, offering peace and tranquility.
“…it’s a modest farmhouse to visit for admiring the view, having a simple snack of cured meats and cheese, and enjoying the sparkling wine produced in this land. There are no cooked or hot foods.”
These are the words of the Host, who is not present, as the name suggests. The peculiarity of this authentic refreshment area is exactly this: you find yourself like the travelers of old, in an agriculturally active area, where you can have a snack independently, serving yourself. In the room inside the farmhouse, you’ll find cheeses, pastries, cured meats, and it is a true Show Room of the Treviso province’s territory.
You can also find documentation, brochures about the area, information on the products you are tasting, and the offering is free. Visiting the late 1800s farmhouse, tasting Prosecco and Cartizze produced locally, mountain dairy cheeses, pastries, hard-boiled eggs, wood-fired bread, and cured meats from the owner’s production, you will immerse yourself in an experience that engages all the senses.
Taking a different kind of break, At the Missing Host, you can leave your routine behind and enjoy the simple things, the zero km products of a rich and generous land, cared for by tireless and welcoming workers like the owner of the farmhouse.
The interior of the kitchen, where travelers are welcomed, can accommodate up to 14 people; outside there are other tables and seats. You can visit this peaceful corner until 10 p.m.
Who among you has had the fortune to spend some time At the Missing Host?
