Sanctuary of Collagù in the municipality of Farra di Soligo
One of the most historically and naturally interesting locations in the province of Treviso is the evocative Sanctuary of Collagù, an ancient place of worship pleasantly immersed in the lush green splendour of the hilly countryside that distinguishes the hamlet of Soligo. The name of the village probably derives from the shape of the hilltop near which the sanctuary stands.
Dating back most likely to places of worship from Roman times, the millenary temple dedicated to Our Lady of Sorrows was a spiritual destination where pilgrims and devotees held processions and celebrations to promote the growth of the harvest and the grape harvest.
After the decline of the medieval church, in the first half of the twentieth century the splendid neo-Romanesque church was built, featuring the wonderful fresco that adorns its white portico.
Starting from Soligo, you reach the hermitage of San Gallo on foot and continuing to the right north of Col del Fer follow the signs that lead to Collagù.
Little Church of San Vigilio
Located in via S. Vigilio, 31010 Farra di Soligo (TV), the splendid place of worship represents one of the most evocative examples of sacred architecture in the Marca Trevigiana thanks to the precious and ancient cycle of frescoes that decorates its interior. Built on the summit of Col S. Martino, the sanctuary stands in a vantage point from which you can admire spectacular panoramic views of the valley below.
Harmoniously set in the radiant context of the Treviso countryside, the millenary temple features above the altar a splendid wooden high relief while on the left side a painting shows St. Joseph at work in the presence of Mary and Jesus.
Also noteworthy is the fine terracotta floor covered with brick tiles ingeniously arranged to form evocative geometric patterns.
Towers of Credazzo
The imposing fortified complex towers unchallenged on the summit of evocative hills that stretch between Farra di Soligo and Col San Martino, with the extraordinary Dolomite backdrop.
The majestic structure, originally part of the sumptuous Castle of Credazzo, built and later enlarged from the 10th to the 13th century, offers breathtaking panoramic views of the valley below and the Quartier del Piave.
The spectacular remains of what originally formed a larger and more articulated system of fortresses, which included the neighbouring castles of Soligo and Col San Martino, include a keep to the north, a tower house and a spur tower facing south, connected by a high curtain wall crossed by fascinating internal courtyards.
